I'll add this to the next version of the default properties

RE: WHAT NOW?: A post install guide.
I added this to the guide I added for acryan users.. I never moved it over here.. about to add it in but here is the "advanced nfo files trick"

MULTIPLE NFO FILES:

YAMJ will use multiple nfo files if found. This can be handy to help you keep tv seasons and box sets under control depending on how you save them. This is best explained with an example:

TV SHOW:
- heroes <-- folder name
--- heroes.nfo <--- see below for contents
---Season1
------video files
---Season2
------video files
---Season3
-------video files

heroes.nfo contents:
Code:
http://thetvdb.com/index.php?tab=series&id=79501

The above example you'll see that the NFO file is stored with the season folders. YAMJ will actually look for an NFO file named the same as the folder in this location. If this was a TV show that was detected wrong, instead of several nfo files which you need to name correctly and remember when the next season starts to include you can take 1 nfo file and give YAMJ the information it needs no matter how the files change.

MOVIE:

- American.Pie (folder)
---Amercan.Pie.nfo (contents below)
---American.Pie.1.avi
---American.Pie.2 (folder)
------VIDEO_TS
---American.Pie.3 (folder)
------VIDEO_TS

American.Pie.nfo Contents:
Code:
<movie>
   <set>American Pie Collection</set>
</movie>

If all of your movies were single files, then the folder option for nfo files is a valid name. however in this example you'll see a mix of video_ts folders and regular video files. You can make an nfo for each one but if YAMJ is detecting the movies correctly and all you want to do is combine them. Staying within 1 folder of all the videos with an NFO file named after the folder does the trick. In the future when the next movie comes out just put it into the folder named correct and it will automatically go into the bex set with no additional effort on your part.

RE: WHAT NOW?: A post install guide.
Nice guide. Great job!

I would recommend making the first post section for
Topics covered in this guide:
to be larger and blue.

Also each point under it (1. - 9.) in the body of the text should also be made Larger
since I for one had trouble spotting them while scrolling.

RE: WHAT NOW?: A post install guide.
makes sence, I'll do those changes when I get a spare moment.
I had a spare couple moments so I just did it now.. I also need to update section 9 for the new option to change the filename to make upgrading easier with categories and genre changes

Yes, much better now -- easy to spot the start of a new section when fast scrolling.

For upgrading... hopefully you mean the post in YAMJ 1.8 thread where I fully explained how to do that.
Feel free to copy/paste and modify as required.

RE: WHAT NOW?: A post install guide.
This is a great guide!

I'm an A-100 user and perhaps I missed the link somewhere in the 100 YAMJ forum but I hadn't seen this post before and just happened upon it while wandering around in the forums...

Can I suggest this is shadowed/mirrored (or at least prominently linked) in the 100 YAMJ forums?

RE: WHAT NOW?: A post install guide.
It's a pain in the neck to have guides in 2 locations, but I personally link to it from the start here guide for installing which is sticky in both forums..

I started to post guides in the 200 forum when the 110 became discontinued (according to us retailers I know).. I figured those who just found the pch probably have the 200 series

RE: WHAT NOW?: A post install guide.
first thanks for the guide
"If you have a single core cpu, I recommend 2 scanning threads and 1 processing threads.

For every 512M of memory, add 2 scanning threads and 1 processing thread up to 10 scanning and 4 processing. For example if you have 2 gigs of memory thats 4x512 so you want 8 and 4 as your settings."

sorry i idont fully understand the frase, maybe is for my bad english understanding, do you mean a maximun of 10 and 4?
i think in the processing threads you have to put the numbers of cpus your machine have
so if i have a dual whit 4G is 16 and 2 or is 10 and 4
or 16 and 8 (whit this config is very very slow) took 2 hs to scan something that normaly took 10 min

thanks!

RE: WHAT NOW?: A post install guide.
every machine is a little different but 10 and 4 would probably be good numbers for you..
