Sad C-200 Defective?
I had just recently purchased this media player, Popcorn Hour C-200, and even waited 3 months for it because they had to back order since they ran out of stock... Angry

Anyway when the player arrived it didn't turn on since the PSU had been incorrectly attached! Exclamation with a DMM I was able to properly attach the pins to their necessary connectors and the device worked. It had been working fine for a couple of weeks until now. Now it doesn't play ANY movies, even on my internal HDD, USB HD, or flash drive even, it sometimes resets and does nothing and sometimes it does play but only the sound works. I have tried flashing it to the latest firmware but still nothing works. Also I have tried reformatting my internal HDD but it always hangs and I have to reset it by flipping the rocker switch at the back.

Exactly what is wrong with this thing?? Huh I've spent a great deal of money for this device and surely hope its not broken already, am I still covered by waranty? I bought this in October and it arrived by December after their shortage...

Please help me with this. This is getting very frustrating Angry

RE: C-200 Defective?
Oh now a new problem, the damn thing now resets even now and then making any fixing almost annoyingly impossible... I cant even update the firmware because it too hangs during that process...

Any thoughts on what might be wrong with this player??

Thanks!

can it work without the hardisk? I have similar problem due to hardisk. after switching the hardisk, it works alright.

Sadly no, the problem still exist with or without the hardisk, but I made a little progress now, I was able to NOT make it reset anymore by reflashing but still it cant play movies for some weird reason...

Now it plays roughly 30 secs of any video before hanging up but the sound still works and continues even after the screen freezes... Could this be a capacitor problem? Like a leak or something? Because PC's have this sort of symptom I wonder if its the same here... I checked the capacitors they seem ok, no leaks, no bulging tops, so it might be something else, I dunno...

Any thoughts anyone??

Strange, sounds like a Friday afternoon lemon to me Undecided

Warranty will cover you for 12 months.

Where are you playing the files from if you have no HDD? If it is network then there could be a myriad of issues as to why files don't play so we'd need a lot more detail on your network setup and serving apps.

Test via USB and a powered USB HDD or USB stick.

A400: SSD+SD Card(Apps), HDMI A300: USB(Apps), HDMI C200: USB(Apps), BD SH-B083L(SB01), HDMI
CAT6 Wired Network: TV TX-P42G20, HP ProCurve 1400-8G, Netgear GS-608/605, Synology CS407

RE: C-200 Defective?
@chris57

I've tried playing it both from an internal HDD, an external HDD, a USB flashdrive and also from the network... (I played 2 types of movies, .avi and .mkv nothing worked. But pictures and .txt files seems ok, I havent tested some mp3s though I'll do that today)

Now the network thing is new... I just connected this to my network just to see if it plays off that, but its worst, it doesn't play period, now it might be from my settings but thats the least of my worries, I dont even want to connect this to a network, I just want to play movies off my Samsung hardisk w/c is compatible according to the NMT wiki, and it even worked before... The last thing I did before it went crazy was I put in new movies on my HDD and popped it back in the player, but I left it alone for 30 mins and when I came back there was a black screen and I reseted the NMT by flipping the rocker at the back since the machine hanged on me and after that all these problems started happening... Sad
