[A-200] [Audio] DTS-HDMA and TrueHD working!
I finally got HD audio bitstreaming to work. Here's what I do:
Rip BD disc to ISO w/AnyDVDHD to remove protection (no other changes) Create a new ISO using ClownBD taking all of the defaults. Clown will demux with eac3to, remux with tsmuxer, and create the ISO with ImgBurn. This creates an ISO with BD structure with just the main video stream and main audio stream. HD audio does not work with m2ts files, BD structures, or the ISO produced by AnyDVDHD. Works (DTS-HDMA): General Complete name : Z:\Videos\Wanted.ISO Format : AVC Format/Info : Advanced Video Codec File size : 19.6 GiB Video Format : AVC Format/Info : Advanced Video Codec Format profile : High@L4.1 Format settings, CABAC : Yes Format settings, ReFrames : 4 frames Width : 1 920 pixels Height : 1 080 pixels Display aspect ratio : 16:9 Frame rate : 23.976 fps Resolution : 8 bits Colorimetry : 4:2:0 Scan type : Progressive Color primaries : BT.709-5, BT.1361, IEC 61966-2-4, SMPTE RP177 Transfer characteristics : BT.709-5, BT.1361 Matrix coefficients : BT.709-5, BT.1361, IEC 61966-2-4 709, SMPTE RP177 Works (True-HD): General Complete name : Z:\Videos\Iron Man.ISO Format : AVC Format/Info : Advanced Video Codec File size : 29.8 GiB Video Format : AVC Format/Info : Advanced Video Codec Format profile : High@L4.1 Format settings, CABAC : Yes Format settings, ReFrames : 4 frames Width : 1 920 pixels Height : 1 080 pixels Display aspect ratio : 16:9 Frame rate : 23.976 fps Standard : NTSC Resolution : 8 bits Colorimetry : 4:2:0 Scan type : Progressive Color primaries : BT.709-5, BT.1361, IEC 61966-2-4, SMPTE RP177 Transfer characteristics : BT.709-5, BT.1361 Matrix coefficients : BT.709-5, BT.1361, IEC 61966-2-4 709, SMPTE RP177 Not sure why MediaInfo doesn't display the audio tracks. I don't understand yet why these work and the original ISOs produced by AnyDVDHD don't. I'll keep trying different things until I narrow it down. I got a big clue from peterjcat's post: http://www.networkedmediatank.com/showth...#pid334542 Viewing A-200 + Denon 3808Ci AVR + Pioneer 60" Plasma + 5.1 MartinLogan A-200 + Pioneer 50" Plasma A-110 + Toshiba 42" CRT Media Servers (connected to viewing areas via GigE) Qnap TS-509 Netgear ReadyNAS NV+ |

RE: [A-200] [Audio] DTS-HDMA and TrueHD working!
What information can I provide that will make this easier to diagnose? Mediainfo doesn't tell you much if you just give it an ISO. If you mount the ISO and run mediainfo on the mount point, it gives information about the certificates, etc., but not the video and audio tracks. If you give it the STREAMS directory, it hangs. If you give it the PLAYLIST directory it hangs on a 1:1 BD rip (AnyDVDHD), but if you give it a PLAYLIST directory with only one playlist (say, from a remux as described in my OP), it gives you the video and audio stream info as you would expect.
eac3to does a better job of telling you what's in a particular ISO / BD tree, but mediainfo seems to be preferred here. Advice / suggestions? RE: [A-200] [Audio] DTS-HDMA and TrueHD working!
It is only single file player app that cannot bitstream HD audio through to a suitable receiver.
The app that plays DVD, BD etc. is a different app and that can bitstream HD audio. That is why the suggestion is to create a BD structure, with one of the many apps, and play it. Older chipset players including the A100/110 cannot handle BD structures and so to have a backup people have had to take the output from AnyDVD and ultimately create one m2ts file. Unfortunately an m2ts file is a single file and played by the app that presently cannot bitstream HD Audio. For those just starting out there really is no need to do anything to the AntDVD rip to image option. The C200 should play them as if it were the actual BD disc, the A200 with its BDLite should be able to play the movie with your selecting subs/audio etc. from the BDLite menu. What you did was take the BD structure and do the process that the likes of the A110 require before finally taking it back to a BD structure. Bit of work for no reason really. Now that is in a world where every backup created by AnyDVD works. Well big news some don't. That is why AnyDVD is updated so frequently, its also the reason to go for it in preference to other ripping software. Always checkout the AnyDVD forum for help on a release that doesn't work. Look at useful software such as reclocker to understand why some do not play. RE: [A-200] [Audio] DTS-HDMA and TrueHD working!
Thanks, Chris. What I'm seeing is that for 1:1 AnyDVD rips to ISO or BD structures, I get HD audio bitstreaming only if the title uses old-style DVD menus. If it uses BD Java-based menus (i.e. the A200 uses BDLite menus), only the core of the audio track is sent to the receiver (the receiver displays Dolby Digital for True-HD and DTS Surround for DTS-HDMA). For DTS-HDMA tracks, the movie plays fine, just with degraded sound. For True-HD tracks, the audio has frequent "drop outs" - short periods of silence accompanied by the receiver display indicating that it isn't receiving an audio signal.
If I run the AnyDVD rip (ISO or BD structure) through ClownBD (for us newbies - a nice front-end for eac3to, tsMuxeR, and ImgBurn) to extract just the main video and HD audio track to a BD structure, the A200 bitstreams DTS-HDMA and True-HD beautifully (no drop-outs, stutters, etc.). I don't mind remuxing my entire collection if that solves the problem since I'll also reclaim quite a bit of space and get rid of all of the trailers, ads, menu blocks, and other annoyances that I didn't know how to get rid of when I started. I just want to make sure I get it right the first time. I'm still learning my way around and it's entirely likely that I'm still not in possession of all the facts. As helpful as these forums and the Wiki are, there's a ton of information to absorb and since there's no "one-size-fits-all" solution, there's not exactly a neon sign pointing the way, so thanks again for the nudge in the right direction. RE: [A-200] [Audio] DTS-HDMA and TrueHD working!
A-200 plays TSMUXER bd structure fine. No need to create a iso. just using tsmuxer and the original m2ts file (the big one in the stream folder) from the ripped bd from ANYDVD and use bluray output.

Me too. Eleven rips and perfect HD audio. Question: when you perform the above, what happens when you hit the menu key while playing the movie? When I press menu key the movie restarts and no menu is seen. Samsung LN52A850 Denon AV 3808 Monitor Audio Radius HD speakers Popcorn A200 Sony BDP 350 PS3 and Wii Mediasmart EX 490 (CPU upgrade) |

When you rip the main video and audio tracks you're basically throwing away everything else: trailers, banners, ads, commentary tracks, "making of" videos, ... and menus. U won't get HD audio if there's BD lite menu.
