[YAMJ] Alaska *UPDATE* May 9, 2010 - 3 Fixes, 1 Enhancement, and a Time Fix(?)

Alaska YAMJ is a mimic of XBMC Alaska.

This skin was made possible by cprobert's mod of marcin77's Aeon Index HD (Home Menu), PPP's ppp3.1 (Popup Filtering), and all the beta testers.

Alaska YAMJ aims to provide the most elegant and beautiful movie-and-TV-show-browsing experience with super-simple-to-use navigation and the introduction of themes. Alaska YAMJ, in essence, is a completely new experience.


The default theme is "Night" (black with blue accents) so as to be kind on your flat panels and power bills. A true "Alaska" theme (white with off-white accents) will eventually be made for a "true" Alaska skin.


Please read the readme as this will tell you everything you need to know about this skin, from installation to to usage, customizing, themes, and limitations.

The only major function currently missing is support for MultiEpisode files. For example, if you have "24 S01E01E02E03E04.iso", you will only see one entry to play this file; you will not see individual episode details (title, plot, videoimage).


May 9, 2010 Update
Being an extremely controlled skin, I saw no reason to update this skin as frequently. The skin was released in a 99%-working state, so the updates will be minor.

1) BBFC 12a and X rating flags have been added.

2) "Div" and "dca" FourCCs have been added to the codec detection. They will display "DIVX" and "DTS" respectively.

3) YAMJ has added Tagalog to the default detectable languages, so Tagalog movies will show up as "TGL".

4) Fixed TV ratings. Previously, all TV shows would show up as 5 stars. They should show correctly now.

5) Some people have been bringing up issues with the time in the indexhomes. I don't know if these are specific to the C-200 or something else, but when I tested it on my A-110, all I had to do was change the timezone and it was fine for me. Congratulations on a new fresh look.. Well Done!

Have to say, love the video on YouTube... SLAMMING! as we would say here in The Bronx! I truly felt like I was watching American Beauty LOL.

Like I said to you, my Daughter and Wife LOVE this new skin and they are anxious to get to use it exclusively. That leaves me loving AEON exclusively in my home LOL.

Looking forward to skinning it!

Really? Changing the colors on my TV for the 1 minute I spend browsing for a movie is going to have an effect on my power bill?

I think you're in the minority.

A white skin is many people's nightmare, unfortunately. "Screen burn!" is what they'll say. It'll have more of an affect on your TV than your bill.

Hey, ejp! Congratulations on your new skin, I was looking forward to it, it looks gorgeous!
I can't wait to try it out tomorrow on my PCH, but there are a few issues that concern me already.
I own a PCH A110 so navigation will be slower from what I hear than on the new models, I'm thinking that browsing trought the TVShows and TVEpisodes must be a pain, assuming you have many like myself...?
Other than that, browsing trough the movies must be also a little bit slower just because AEON had more movies on one page, but I still don't know if this skin is customizable on that...

Anyways, I shouldn't even be talking before I try it, I'm looking forward for tomorrow Once again, congrats!

1st tHX for this Beatiful Skin, and Sorry that I cant help you alot of beta testing, cause my TV arrived yesterday . I have one question, whts this Home Menu thing? What can I do there, is this an replacement of the NMT default Skin from my C-200 ?

You are correct. Getting where you need to go quickly is not a core value of Alaska. Of course, with less items per page, you won't get there as fast, but to achieve the mimic, we have to sacrifice some efficiency.

Well yes, it's pretty much an NMT index. If you're able to replace the default NMT skin with an index, then you should be able to do it with this as well.

Actually, you'll want to use YAMJ's index.htm. That's the index.htm that's alongside the data/Jukebox folder. (The data folder contains all the HTML, XML, JPG, etc files). YAMJ's index.htm is what redirects you to the Home Menu (or the mjb.homePage).

That confused me a lil, I have my Jukebox/index.htm stored on my NMT-HDD, When I click on my HDD in the NMT Menu, My AEon Jukebox starts up. What must I do for using this Home Menu, does I have to start the HomeMenu over the NMT-HDD, that sucks, cause I have to start a 2nd NMT-Index from the 1st NMT-Index...

You would do the same exact thing. Just autoload the Jukebox/index.htm file (once you've installed Alaska, of course).


In ÆON, the index.htm then autoloads the Other_All_1.html.

In Alaska, it'll autoload the Home Menu.

Excellent skin

1) Will it be possible in the future to add some info from the details page to the main page. I would like to see the Genre and a numerical IMDB rating, maybe below the plot summary.
2) When I move between movies in the detail page (left or right) it is like I'm browsing the list of all the movies and not a specific library that I came through it to the first detail screen.
