Firmware Update... screen going black.
I tried to upgrade to the latest firmware on my C-200 and something is up.
I get the same results on both the online or offline upgrades... As soon as I hit "accept" on the update the system freezes and goes black in about 5 seconds. The LCD screen reads "Popcorn Hour" but the remote is dead. I have to flip the switch in the back and boot it back up. It boots back up fine like nothing ever happened but I'm wondering why I can't run the update. Current Firmware: 02-01-091008-19-POP-408-000 I tried upgrading to 02-01-091113-19-POP-408-000 and 02-02-100118-19-POP-408-000 and get the same result on both. Any ideas? I was able to upgrade the firmware when I originally received it before putting anything on it. |

RE: Firmware Update... screen going black.
1008 that FW did have a bug that only affected some people and that is a black screen after pressing enter to upgrade FW and never did anything after that.
The FW after the 1008 did solved this. And everyone after that is ok too. If the screen gets black in 1-5 seconds and then nothing happens for 5 minutes (but to be safe wait 30min) then you got the upgrade blackout bug. Do a recovery firmware update See the wiki After the recovery do a normal update to the FW you want to use. Also be sure to ONLY have the recovery files on the usb drive. And the "safest" way to do a normal update is to use usb (not over internet) and ONLY have the update files on the usb drive. Most likely you will have to use the "Insert a jumper on uart0" to fix this. And you have to do this if you want to upgrade the FW at all even if you wait for the next FW release or the 10'nt after that it would only be a black screen. And that is because the bug is in the FW that is on your c200 now and can't be fixed untill a new FW is installed. If you don't have any jumper at hand any hd,cd,dvd that use ide should have one that you can borrow also many motherboards could have one or many. But be sure to use pen and paper to note where and on which pins the jumper you borrowed did sit on. And DO NOT USE the computer if you borrow any jumper from anything that is in a computer. Or most electronics, computer parts store should have one for sale. To be able to put a jumper on the uart0 you will have to open the lid on the c200 wich could woid warranty if buyed from a retail shop and they have placed a sticker that needs to be broken to open the lid. Or you have to get it to the shop and let them update and it could be a good ide to point them here or to the wiki so they now what to do. Pana S-20 Denon 2310 Router dlink dir-655 SYABAS FIX THE DAMN NETWORK SPEED!!! My network works fantastic using 1 year old FW but as soon as a new FW is installed i´m stuck around 5000Kbps in speed wich is WAY TO LOW |
