NMTDVR rc1: Automated Tv and Movie Downloads via Usenet and Torrents

Greetings,

I have been working on this project for some time and its time to see the light of day. NMTDVR is a replacement for my original torrentwatch application(not the excellent branch torrentwatch-x). The goal of this application, like the original, is to automate the task of filling your NMT with interesting media. NMTDVR can also be run on a PC, contact me for details.

NMTDVR is a feed based downloader. That means you provide it with RSS feeds to new content on the Internet and NMTDVR does the rest. NMTDVR offers multiple types of favorites partially assisted by media information from IMDb.com, TV.com and theTVDb.com. TV Show favorites download your favorite shows every week when they come out. Movie favorites allow you to automatically download movies in your favorite genres that are highly rated at IMDb.com. NMTDVR also still supports string matching similar to torrentwatch.

There is a demo available to try out for anyone interested. The stored information is reset every 30 minutes so go ahead and play around.

This is the first release candidate. This has received more pre-release testing than any previous version of torrentwatch but as with any program there are likely bugs remaining. Please feel free to post any bug reports. This has been tested on the A100, A110 and C200 NMTs with the firefox web browser. I think other browsers(excluding IE) will work but this has not been fully tested.

To Install NMTDVR you will need the NMT Community Software Installer. If you have an older model NMT NMTDVR may be listed. If not or if you have a newer model NMT you will need to download NMTDVR-0.9.0-rc1.zip and save it to your PC hard disk. From the CSI window click the File menu and select Install From File. From there navigate to the saved archive. NMTDVR will be available as http://[IP_OF_NMT]:9999/NMTDVR_web/

A quick start guide is in progress but is not yet ready for distribution. Watch this space for a link.

Hi, I de installed the old version and installed this RC1. I get the following error on opening http://[IP_OF_NMT]:9999/NMTDVR_web/

Just for any future users who will be upgrading from the older version of NMTDVR, you DON'T have to un-install the old version, just install over the old verstion and all you favorites and database settings will be ported to the new version.

I suggest installing NMTDVR again, then restart your NMT and see if that works.

Ive been using NMTDVR since the first release and IMHO its the best application on the NMT.

Hmm, quite odd. ajax/fullResponse was utilized in the orrigional NMTDVR beta but is no longer used. I've just re-checked the archive and verified there are no references so it seems the uninstall didn't quite get where we wanted.

I would suggest manually deleting the directory /share/Apps/NMTDVR from your nmt and then doing the installation.

If you wish to save your old favorites/feeds copy the file /share/Apps/NMTDVR/protected/data/source.db to your PC before deleting, and then put it back after installation.

Edit: Something to try first:
http://[IP_OF_NMT]:9999/lighttpd_web/apc.php

Click on clear opCode cache on the top right. Then click User Cache Entries from the menu and click clear user cache in the top right again.
Above suggestion of rebooting is also quite good.

Interesting, any app that helps with usenet automation is golden in my book so I'll give it a try

I have a bug and a question:

There is a small bug: It is not possible to save a favourite with a name that consists only of numbers (e.g. 24).

Question: Where can I add more quality's? DVDrip is nice, but I'd rather filter the 720p ones.

Will test some more, but first they have to release some eps ;-)

I hadn't considered the name consisting of all numbers, although i should have. I will fix that bug.

In regards to qualitys, they are auto-populated based on your feed. NMTDVR knows about 40 typical qualitys that appear on torrents/usenet and they will be added to the qualitys table when they are seen in your feed. Perhaps i should pre-populate that with a couple really common ones like hdtv pdtv and 720p though

I didn't mention this anywhere but will work it into the documentation somewhere: Items marked 720p will never receive the 'hdtv' tag even if its listed in the name. So selecting hdtv as a quality will download the typical .avi releases. Selecting 'hdtv' and '720p' as the quality of a favorite will never download anything. Essentially 'hdtv' and '720p' are mutually exclusive

Hi All,

As of latest update today I seem to have inherited a new version of transmission (1.75).

I've searched the forums, wiki and internet generally and haven't been able to find an answer, so would someone be able to tell me what the "base api" should be set to in NMTDVR please?

I see torrents showing on the feed and being matched but they don't get into transmission. (Status = Orange)

Also, is anyone else having a problem with their favourites, where newly added ones only become visible after restarting the NMTDVR or Popcorn Hour?

My feeds are not updating. even if I turned off then on the player, the feeds are not updating.
I have to click Reset Data then click All. not sure what I'm doing wrong.

When you installed the newest version of transmission, did it give you a link to connect to the transmission web interface? Baseapi should be that same as the webpage you go to to see what transmission is currently downloading

well that does sound annoying, what kind of NMT are you on? Also if your familiar with telnet at all can you execute the following commands to get some debugging information for me?

first cmd

that should list the processes that are going to be run regularly on the machine, like nmtdvr feed updates

second cmd

cd /share/Apps/NMTDVR
./crontab.sh

This command should perform the actual feed update. Assuming the above crontab command listed nmtdvr then the output of this script should detail what is going wrong.

Well, adding it to the crontab will get you where you want to go, until the machine is rebooted. To see the full command that should be added look in the '/share/Apps/NMTDVR/appinfo.json' file. You need to use the 'su' like in the appinfo.json so that file permissions dont get changed arround.

The actual insertion of commands into the crontab isn't done by NMTDVR, but by the community software installer. I took a quick peak and didn't see any reason it wouldn't be working, but i will try and look more into this as time allows.
