As far as I can tell from looking at the mpd-nmt-20090222.zip package, USB was supported by configuring OSS-output. The rest was done outside mpd, by loading a number of standard (?) Linux audio driver modules.
You enabled OSS-output, and the modules are available in that package, so it actually might be possible to make it work...

I would like this for the C200, but that would require recompilation of those modules
BTW, I noticed this you put in the old mpc. Doesn't "make" build a new mpc along with the mpd ?
