So if for example above user wants to automate the process without human interaction (ie create xml) it would be for the best if UMC could handle parsing nfo files for imdb tt**. If this is possible, one could run umc as cronjob and it would automaticly pick up new movies as they come with nfo I guess.

Ok can you make an enhancement on bugzilla for this please.

Don,

why not change the file name when you make a different release instead of use reading each page to see if there is a change to the app overnight ?

The file name is changed: "UMC - V2.0 - Public Beta - Build 001".

The first two beta releases were named only as "UMC - V2.0 - Public Beta"

Edit: Ok, you're right. There is something strange in the version naming. When you open the changelog in the JavaGUI you can see that the latest version is Build 002. But the wiki download link is to Build 001.

Coiken, relax man. I come to this thread and all the time you are compliant the UMC, it is a BETA for god sake. UMC team are working all the time in this project for FREE, they are addressing all the issues but they NEED time. If you cant wait, go and use YAMJ and when UMC is more stable come back.

I want to give my most sincere congratulations to the UMC team for this hard work. I am convinced that UMC going to be the best jukebox for the A200-C200. I always rembember the phrase "all good things take time".

My original .nfo looks like this:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>

<id moviedb="thetvdb">77398</id>
<id moviedb="imdb">tt0106179</id>
</movie>

Have converted it to .xml through the little handy program and it looks like this:
<movie xmlns="http://www.umc-project.de/xmlbeans" xmlns:xs="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema" xmlns:fn="http://www.w3.org/2005/02/xpath-functions" xmlns:xdt="http://www.w3.org/2005/02/xpath-datatypes"><title>The X-Files</title><id>77398</id><genre /><year /><plot /><rating /><banner /><cover /><poster /><backdrop /><audio><track><language /><codec /></track></audio><subtitle><track><language /><codec /></track></subtitle><cast /></movie>

Have of course now renamed the original nfo so it's not usable and my xml (The X Files[Series].xml) is the only one left now.

Could you please give me an example to how the series xml should look like, since I think the nfo-xml conversion is not done correctly?

It actually looks like it has found something now, but still the same errors:

There are very good examples of the xml files here:

It's frustrating to see the UMC team did such a super job, created possibly one of the best jukebox solutions but it stays unusable because the movie recognition is not of sufficient quality Sad

Remember: Beta. Cool

It's ok to post you bugs and problems and ask for possible solutions but please remember it is a beta so don't get hot under the collar.

Thanks for all the work guys Big Grin

RE: [Download] UMC V2.0 - Public Beta
For all the user who are using xml files.

Please create 100% conform UMC files. Check the examples in the wiki (wiki.umc-project.de).
I tested last night a lot of scenarios and it's true that at the moment nobody knows 100% how to configure everything (regarding xml's) so that it works.
Most of the problems are based on the feature that is possible to define 1 to 4 languages. Depending on this settings you also need to follow some rules for the XML's.
But the UMC team is talking about that problem and in my opinion we first need a 100% documentation. At the moment there are a lot of information missing but I hope that the wiki fill be filled from day to day with more information.

For example you can't have one language English defined and then use xml files where you provide for example OFDB ID's (for german information).
You need to switch the first language also to German and you will see that now the OFDB ID's from the XMl files will be used.

This is just great.. We would love to see the directory structure to see the naming convention used by you. It is really good to have that discipline in naming movies so as to avoid scanning issues..

If possible could you please post a snapshot of your movie directory structure?

I Think it's in the developper's best interest if the user's let them know what they like and don't like about the beta software in order to help the developer's deal with the issues that are most relevant for the users. As long as the users keep in mind that it is software that is in beta and are not getting bent out of shape about these issues not working at peak efficiency yet.

and the [Group].xml file must also be in a library since the group also shows up on the main movie screen? Just it does not work when I click on it.

Carl.

If I could get a response from a developper (Or someone else in the know) about the [group].xml questions I would be a very happy guy.

I also would like to mention that since I have been cleaning up my file naming conventions and [Movie].xml files and getting rid of .nfo files the system seems to be picking up my movies and TV Series quite well. (Due to having a lot of obscure stuff I need the xml files) There is obviously work to be done but it is coming along nicely. Please concentrate on the playback issues as I think that is the biggest concern at the moment and I don't think it is all on the C200 side as things play back fine for the most part if I don't use UMC after a reboot.

It's not directory structure, but movie naming convention that is the important thing. Most scanners (including YAMJ) like to see the name exactly as it appears in the online sources such as IMDB, including the year in your movie names usually guarantee's better results.

Conforming to the 1.84 standard or a new standard?

Will the nfo-reading be fixed in later versions?

I have to agree. My movies are on multiple network drives as well as an internal hard drive due to me ripping movies from different computers at different times and adjusting for space allotments. My directory structure leaves much to be desired. Cleaning up my naming conventions and inserting properly formatted xml files has made a huge difference in getting movie details more complete and more accurate.

The xml format has changed for UMC V 2.0. You can find examples of the current xml formats here:

http://www.hdd-player.de/umc/wiki2/index.php/User_Guide

I'm a noobie so I don't know much about the .nfo formats.

Just to be sure the latest version of UMC won't playback normal filetypes like .mkv? It was working in the earlier version. It's just that I will avoid the new version if there no playback.

It's hit and miss but mostly miss. When you talk about the new version are you talking about the previous beta or 1.84? I don't think the playback problems have been any different in any of the new 2.0 betas.
