Sad PCH seems to be malfunctioning.
Been using the pch for months now but lately it's been "shutting off" <---in quotes because the power light is still on but the remote won't work with it and i ultimately have to pull the power to reboot it.

Now it is only staying on for about 10 mins(idle) then quitting.
I can't get a movie started before it dies and i have to pull the plug.

I upgraded the fw to [A-110] Firmware 01-17-100317-15-POP-403
....still no luck.

Anyone else experience this??
TIA

ps. i also read clearing the cache could solve certain problems but i did that to no avail..

RE: PCH seems to be malfunctioning.
Have you installed an internal HD in it?

If so... try to remove it first and see if it lasts longer.

I also mean no disrespect but sometimes I forget the even simpler fixes like changing remote batteries.

RE: PCH seems to be malfunctioning.
No disrespect taken.. i tried that first thing. :/ Thanx for your reply.
I don't have an internal installed, i use usb ext. HDD's for now..
I left the unit unplugged for a couple of hours last night and then tried it with a lesser .avi type movie and it played fine....for the time being.

I'm just wondering hardware-wize, could there be any stress i could be putting the unit under by playing .mkv's 1080p etc...all the time?

RE: PCH seems to be malfunctioning.
The A-110 can play 1080p so it's not stressed.

If you're using external HDDs, you also might want to check if they need maintenance.

For NTFS formatted drives, I run chkdsk on them using a windows machine
For EXT3 formatted drives, I run e2fsck but that's more technical since I have to boot a linux CD off my laptop and run from the command prompt.

RE: PCH seems to be malfunctioning.
Thx for the advice Dave_D. I did think that it might be a HDD issue as well. I will troubleshoot that senario.
I certainly hope that it's not the PCH cause so far, it has been brilliant.
