This one is really getting me frustrated. If I want to play a wmv hd file after having used my c200 for other files (eg. mkv or dvd), it no longer presents soundvalong with the wmv files! If I change the setupvfor these wmv files it doesn't get better, but if I reset my c200 and start with the wmv hd file, it plays the file just fine! Go figure....
It even plays normal surround sound with it and the amp is telling me it's wmv pro. After playing another mkv or other file it then again refuses to play audio with the file and the only thing I hear is a distance noise (very soft) Anyone got an idea? |

RE: C200: WMV no sound, but after reset playing just fine
I have the same issue on my C-200 with latest FW; I don't recall ever having this problem with an older FW, but then, I had also upgraded to an HDMI AVR when I updated the C-200's FW so now all my audio is sent via HDMI (WMV via PCM however, not RAW as my AVR cannot decode that via HDMI) versus S/PDIF before, so I don't have the exact same hardware setup as before the FW update.
It usually happens after playing some other movie (non-WMV), then perusing and selecting an WMV movie. No sound immediately. The audio plays just fine from non-WMV movies; it's just that ALL WMV audio no longer plays, that is, until I do a complete power-down of the PCH. After that, if I navigate directly to the WMV in question, the audio will play just fine. TOMY: The Only Mac YAMJ GUI, now for Windows too! Both available here. |
