In case any of you missed the good news Youtube is coming to the 200 series.

It will be via the Webservices icon and be a Revision3 style Flash app. It is a flash stream so won't be available on the 100 series.

Popbox has been the instigator, so it's great to see something come to 200 series from the Popbox project:-

There is a way of getting Youtube currently that you can find in the MSP section. I have it running on my Synology NAS and then access via the NMT. Useful for those not running a PC. You need a webserver or PC.

this is great news indeed!
i've bought the a200 with youtube use in my mind before buying but then i found out that it doesn't support it that well so that was a bummer for me..
I am really hoping that the day that the new GUI gets out and knowing that youtube service will be there even better.
This is indeed one of the best NMTs out there and one of the best solutions for media centers.

agree with Specter... Rev3 webapp ain't functioning to great in the last public release and I have not seen improvement...

i hv try youtube lite to watch trailers, but it's not working, and i believe cos i'm not in US.

Before heaping praise, it might be good to actually see and test it first. ANybody can promise things.
If this is actually true and it works good then it opens up a lot of possibilities based on what they've said (again taken with a grain of salt:dodgy Smile

. For example if there is also really a Popbox Netplix plugin then that should work on 200 series too, shouldn't it??

I hope they improve the buffering cache somehow, because YT can be kind of useless at times when streaming HD videos due to slow/overloaded servers. When I use it on my computers I most often let the video load 100% before I attempt to play it. Maybe they can add buffering to the internal HDD, if present? That would help greatly. In its current form it only buffers a few secs at a time.

Remember the Popbox is locked down whereas the 200 series boxes are much more open - the licensing would be the major stumbling block there. Would the plugin work for both product lines? Most likely. Would Netflix allow it on the 200 series? Most likely not.

But I agree, I'll believe the YT hype when I see it....

I'v been playing with YT on my C200 with the last beta RC and it works pretty nice over my Internet connection giving me a better pictures quality than on my PC Internet browser..

Any information on this yet.....Can the A-200 do HD Youtube now?????

I'm on the fence between several and if it does youtube.....I'll be ordering one! (if I can get on the beta list Wink
