I just wanted to chime in once more real quick after thinking about things a bit more.
I've bought 3 PCH's so far too, and use them practically daily since the A-100 came out.
At that time, nobody (except the ridiculously expensive tvix boxes) was making devices like this, aspiring to play everything. I had been on the doom9 forums for years watching the quality screenshots from different codecs, and when h264 mkvs became standard, I started backing up with it like mad. Though nothing played the content on the tv, and I wished for someone to do it.
Then lo and behold, the pch was announced, and I was overjoyed. It wasn't some major company like Sony who was doing it, it seemed like a bunch of people who were thinking the same thing I was, and decided to filled that need as best as they could. It made me think of the xbox media center coders who slowly improved their code a bit at a time. I may be totally wrong in this comparison, but clearly Sony, Samsung, or even Westinghouse or Kirkland they're not. Watch the Shoutbox like I did a little bit ago, and you may see that they aren't perfect, but their dedication to improving their platform is indeniable. Werner even checks in on his vacation at 1am to keep things rolling. This is one of the reasons that game software developers like Valve and Blizzard when asked for release dates say "when its done," because even as professional and knowledgable as they are, unexpected bugs pop up and the testing process begins again.
