Ethernet works... No usb? Help?

Hello everyone. I feel like i know all of u. I have been on this site for weeks now. Thank you all for your great tips and tuts. But i am officially stuck.

I have been running the A-100 connected through ethernet to windows 7 pc. I just installed yamj and am ready to scrape for the imdb covers, etc... But my pc cant find the pch now through usb. Nothing happens when i try to map the drive.

All my network settings are set right, samba running on pch. Uninstalled windows live assistant.

It connected with ethernet no problem. What am i doin wrong? Appreciate any feedback. Thanks guys.

I don't think the A100 has a USB slave option? You can set everything up over your ethernet connection tho, no need to connect via USB.

Thanks for replying. I dont have wifi so theres no way to be connected to the pch and internet through ethernet. That i know of anyway.

I think there is a usb slave port. would that be my best bet?

I want to use YAMJ, but cant be connected to both the pch and internet at the same time using ethernet. My computer has only one ethernet port.

How do you connect to the internet? Do you not have a combined modem/router?

Sounds like he, only has one drop from a modem and has to switch that single drop between the PCH and the computer?

Me thinks, he should be buying a small router but that is just a guess.

Yeah router or a ethernet switch.

or he doesn't know that you could connect the pc and the pch to the modem at the same time..

If the unit is just a modem, a switch might not work. ie. - The computer or PCH can get a DHCP address but a switch, couldn't.

I don't know but the OP has to explain better what hardware, he has and how it's connected.

Sorry everyone.

I have a modem but no router. So yes, i have to switch the ethernet cord back and forth between pch and modem. All i want to do is run YAMJ once to grab the covers and movie info. Can i run yamj through the pch itself?

Or can i map a drive using usb like i did witht the ethernet?

How do you get movies onto the PCH, do you copy them onto the drive when it is attached to your PC? If so, then attach the PCH as a USB drive to your PC, hook pc up to modem and run YAMJ, write movie files and all to the PCH.

but how do i attach the pch as a usb drive? Yes i transfer movies to pch hdd using ethernet.

I don't think xor has realised you have a100, so no USB slave option.

You might need to pick a router up.

Alternatively you could create a dummy folder on your PC that mimics your PCH folder structure for your movies, with all the correct filenames (just need the filenames you don't need the actual files), use this as the scan path and you should be able to create a jukebox without having the PCH attached. You then should be able to copy the jukebox across to the PCH once created. Bit of a faff to do but would work, hope your not constantly adding and/or deleting movies or this could be a pain.

Well, his best solution is to buy a router. Then the PCH & computer can be on the internet at the same time, plus the computer & PCH can "talk" to each other.

Pretty much a "win, win" situation but costs money (everything has a down side).
