3D shutter glasses compatible?
I currently have a samsung 3D TV and 3D LCD shutter glasses, and I was wondering if the C-200 (which arrives in teh mail tomorrow) will be able to play back 3D movies viewable with my glasses.

Thanks

RE: 3D shutter glasses compatible?
According to a recent press release they have licensed real3d and it will be available on all units.. I am not sure if that means it works now as I don't have a 3d tv to try but it will be coming at some point.

RE: 3D shutter glasses compatible?
The article says the popcorn hour will be "field-upgradeable." Does that imply that it will just be a firmware update?

RE: 3D shutter glasses compatible?
not sure.. it could be an optional upgrade you can install yourself or it might just be firmware.. I think with the 200 series based on what I've seen on the sigma website it may just be firmware on the c200

RE: 3D shutter glasses compatible?
Your TV will have to have specific support for display of RealD 3D signals. The PCH does not and will not perform any specific signal handling (ie. RealD 3D does not use HDMI 1.4+). The only significance of the Syabas feature/press release is licensing compliance (to my knowledge). And you will likely have to enable/disable the stereoscopic mode manually on your TV set each time you switch in and out of 3D content.

There is no indication that any current PCH model plays or ever will play full resolution BluRay 3D via HDMI 1.4+ signaling.

If your current TV doesn't have an option in the menus somewhere to intepret RealD stereoscopic 3D frames, you'll have to get a FW update for the TV, not your PCH.

RE: 3D shutter glasses compatible?
I'm not sure why anyone would bother (to spend money) at this time with 3D? There are 2 or 3 methods to deliver 3D to the home but no standard ATM. Why not wait till the dust settles, unless you have money or know more, then most people.

It seems to me, it's just like the VHS vs BetaMax or more recently, DVD HD vs Blu-Ray thing. JMHO

I got the 3d because it was on special, was going to buy a 40" tv and amp/speakers for $2k, instead I got 46" 240hz tv, amp/speakers, blu ray player and 2 pairs of 3d glasses for $2.2k, so yeah I believe I made a good decision

RE: 3D shutter glasses compatible?
hi, i have a 3d samsung tv too. you can easily watch 3d material in popcorn as long as the video size is =< 1920x1080

google for 'side by side' or 'over under' 3d samples (or even a few movies). play them in pch and enable your 3d from the remote.

i'm pretty sure that's the most you can get from popcorn in terms of 3d.

surprizingly, popcorn a-200 was able to play a 2560x720 (side by side) 3d video! i didn't know it was capable of displaying such a resolution. i'm so glad to see that Smile
