[transmission] Transmission Remote GUI
I just felt that I had to advertise for this application. It is a must have for transmission users.

Transmission Remote GUI is a feature rich cross platform front-end to remotely control a Transmission Bit-Torrent client daemon via its RPC protocol. Transmission Remote GUI is faster and has more functionality than the build-in Transmission web interface.

Previously described here:
http://www.networkedmediatank.com/showth...#pid112215

And available here:

http://code.google.com/p/transmisson-remote-gui/

Statement: I have no conflicts of interests.

PCH-A110 with 1000GB EXT3 HD (WD10EADS)

RE: [transmission] Transmission Remote GUI
It's s nice app for sure, but I'm leaning towards

http://code.google.com/p/transmission-remote-dotnet/

Yeah, it requires .net, but it supports more features and is more actively following the daemon's new features introduced in every update.

@Fafner: Can you tell me please about the differences between "transmisson-remote-gui" and "transmission-remote-dotnet"

Best regards

Jerome

RE: [transmission] Transmission Remote GUI
Taken from the webpage...

French, German, Danish, Hungarian, Chinese, Polish, Turkish, Russian, Korean, Spanish, Czech, Dutch, Brazilian. translations.
Supports all or almost all the remote functionality of Transmission.
Adding torrents by handling .torrent files, drag-n-drop, and browsing.
Optional add .torrent prompt to choose wanted files and priorities, set destination directory and peer limit.
Start, stop, remove, delete, recheck, move torrents.
Authentication support.
Limiting upload/download/peer/ratio limits globally or for specific torrents. Set alternate global limits for certain times.
Prioritisation of files and torrents.
Remotely update the blocklist and test the incoming BitTorrent port.
Filter by tracker or state.
Proxy support.
Minimise/close to tray option, torrent complete/started popup.
Country of peers displayed by text and flag using GeoIP.
SSL support.
Multiple settings profiles.
More!

Magnet link support was added after this feature list was published. The same goes for Local Peer Discovery feature which was added in Transmission 2.00 and some more features...

On the whole, both apps do fine and they are quite similar. The Net one just has some more features...
The developer reacts very quickly to new features added in the Daemon...the other developer is a bit slower on that.

RE: [transmission] Transmission Remote GUI
When I try to connect to remote host 192.168.1.7 (the PCH-A210's IP) with the port I use for the webGUI (8883) it says Connecting for several seconds and then "Connection timed out"

I've tried leaving user/pass empty and using ftpuser/1234
I've also tried with port 9091 and 8077 since several others say that work for them

I'm using transmission 1.75

Nor does Transmission Remote Dotnet work.
How do I make this work?

Still "Connection timed out"
Should I open the port at the router?

As far as I know there's no need for that.
I think port 8077 is correct 9091 is only for Transmission thru CSI.
Are you sure the torrent client is running on the nmt?

RE: [transmission] Transmission Remote GUI
Yes several torrents are downloading and seeding
webGUI works at http://192.168.1.7:8883/torrent/bt.cgi
I close the webGUI before trying the remote btw.

So I am recommended to change to transmission 2.XX or enhanced ctorrent?
I see many threads praising enhanced ctorrent in comparasion to transmission but they are awfully out-dated.

Dotnet is a bit more polished, but takes a lot more resources (memory), starts much slower. Gui on the other hand is much faster at start and has much smaller memory footprint.
