HDX 1000 and Synology DS209
Hello,
at the moment I have HDX1000 with HDD inside. But because of the HDD the HDX is always very hot what I don't like. Because of that I want to buy a Synology DS209 NAS server so that I won't have the HDD in HDX anymore. Now, that I've almost buy Synology, someone tells me that there are problems with watching full hd movies in that combination. That HDX stutters. Does anyone have experience with this combination or with some other NAS server? I will use it for watching Blurays over the network so this has to work properly or I'm not buying Synology. Thanks, Zigismund |

RE: HDX 1000 and Synology DS209
I have a Synology CS-406 since a couple of years and have used it successfully to stream high-bitrate content to various NMT's, be it SMB, NFS or http (with llink on the Syno). I have it setup to watch HD media over http (llink) and NFS, I haven't made a 'stress test' using SMB.
Regardless of NAS solution, you need to make sure your LAN is capable of handling the bitrates. Wireless is not recommended, go wired. Whatever you've been told, make sure you get the full picture: do they use SMB, how is their LAN environment etc. Audio, video, disco - I hear, I see, I learn. Wiki. Wiki? Wiki! |

RE: HDX 1000 and Synology DS209
Thank you for your answer dc11ab!
I will do it the way, that will work. I want to use YAMJ as I use it now, I have a gigabit router Asus RT-N16 and everything is wired (no wireless) and I just don't want to experience any stuttering... I will buy a A200 in a few months but until now, I want to be sure that it will work on my HDX too. |

RE: HDX 1000 and Synology DS209
I have been using this combination from six months and I have still no problem. I is working very well and gives me full support for streaming high-bit-rate content to different NMT's. If your LAN is much capable for handling the bit-rates than no stuffs will be there.
