RE: [Feature Req] VOTE IN THE POLL!! Option to disable Popcorn Upscaling - let your TV/AVR upscale
I too would like to see native resolution being passed through to TV or scaler.
Surely this option would not be too difficult to introduce? Note: I say option because not all will either want it or have something to do scaling with. My TViX 6500 had this introduced a long time back and it has always struck me as being strange that no similar option was available with the PCH. |

RE: [Feature Req] VOTE IN THE POLL!! Option to disable Popcorn Upscaling - let your TV/AVR upscale
Ok, So now we have about +/- 300 votes which is 1/3 of the most voted poll which was more than a half year in every visitors eye... (The NMJ, do you like it?)
And by far, the most voted feature request. Isn't it time for Syabas to take this request serious...? Feature request for the A200/C200: We need your VOTE! |

When do we get this? Isn't it time for some official comment? Thanks.

RE: [Feature Req] VOTE IN THE POLL!! Option to disable Popcorn Upscaling - let your TV/AVR upscale
I would surely like to have native resolution as a video output option. I own the PCH A-110, but I hope that this doesn't make any difference.

RE: [Feature Req] VOTE IN THE POLL!! Option to disable Popcorn Upscaling - let your TV/AVR upscale
Hello to all.
Obviously voted yes, and want to add my two cent. I don't know how output resolution definition is made on the sigma 8643 chip, but I see some problems and two possible ways. The problem is that every resolution is not just a " X*Y ", but there are many user's hidden things. When I said 720p, i think at 1280x720 pixel, but the output signal is not just this. Over the "active" image there are more dots and lines called "blanking", that allow the "sync" of the receiver (TV or other) and the correct viewing of the active image. This is how a single line (called "Horizontal") goes to receiver: |__Back Porch__|__*Active image*__|__Front Porch__|__Sync width__| Both back/front porch and sync width are "black" dots over the single lines that compose the frame. The sync width is the time during the electronic beam goes from the end of one line to the begin of another line (in analog tvs or projectors). Same thing for the entire frame (called "Vertical"). The values of this blanking timings are not casual; there are several standard timings for the most used resolutions (example 576p, 720p, etc..). So, because the files that the popcorn can play have the most different resolutions, we have 2 ways: - Output resolution chosen in the popcorn standard resolutions and "most near" to the video resolution. - Output resolution exactly match the video resolution with blanking times calculated on-the-fly by an algorithm. Obviously, the second way is better for the video quality. ![]() Now, considering that which ones have an external high quality video processor, should not view downloaded low-res divx or similar, that have very low video quality, I think that the first way is although acceptable (if the "pass-through" is not possible with the sigma chip or more complicated). One important thing is to detect interlaced/progressive video and give it untouched to the output, so the video processor can manage the deinterlacing properly. The Very Best solution would be an HD-SDI output but I think that isn't supported by the sigma chip.Bye, Edoardo |

RE: [Feature Req] VOTE IN THE POLL!! Option to disable Popcorn Upscaling - let your TV/AVR upscale
+1 and I've voted yes.
There's no doubt the PCH-C200 IS A HIGH END A/V multimedia player. Therefore, this isn't just a nice to have, this is kind of expected by me. I was disappointed when I ponied over the cash to discover this feature wasn't implemented. I'm very very pleased to see that this thread has started. Just how many votes do we need for the devs to take this seriously?! Some feedback from you guys would be good. |

RE: [Feature Req] VOTE IN THE POLL!! Option to disable Popcorn Upscaling - let your TV/AVR upscale
+1 for me too. If I spend £££$$$€€€ on an HQ upscaler, I want to be able to use it.

RE: [Feature Req] VOTE IN THE POLL!! Option to disable Popcorn Upscaling - let your TV/AVR upscale
ok, but there is no reason for anyone to believe in feature request polls if the most voted feature request does not get honoured...
I haven't seen any poll (except the "Do you like the new NMJ?") which was on every page that has the amount of votes that this feature request has.... Please keep on voting! Feature request for the A200/C200: We need your VOTE! |
