[AUDIO] DTS Header Compression in MKV
Are the PCH A110/A100's having any issues with the new DTS Header Compression in the new version of mkvmerge?

RE: DTS Header Compression in MKV
I'm afraid it doesn't work, I just tested with v4.2.0. I had to disable header compression for the video (x264-encoded) and audio (AC3) tracks to make the Matroska file play on my A-110.

I've just tried playing this one: The.Joneses.2009.LIMITED.720p.BluRay.x264-xxxxxx which allegedly has DTS header compression and it played fine on my A110 A210 + 1Tb 2.5" SATA internal A110 (4gb compact flash) Storage: Synology DS207+ (4Tb) & 2 x Edgestor DAS200 (8Tb) Display: Sony Bravia KDL55HX853 Amplification: Onkyo TX-NR515 Speakers: 3 x Monitor Audio R180HD; 2 x Monitor Audio R45HD; REL Q-Bass Logitech Harmony One |

RE: DTS Header Compression in MKV
The file was my own encode of Star Trek II.
I think the problem lies in the MPEG-4 AVC header compression which was made default in v4.2.0. |

RE: DTS Header Compression in MKV
Werner ....
Popcorn Hour A110 will NOT play files using default settings with latest MKVToolnix 4.2.0. You must manually set to no compression under extra options for correcty playback. Files do play without issue with the latest versions of VLC and Media Player HC. This includes both video and audio and it has been confirmed on many files. tsMuxer does not support correctly either ... ![]() http://www.bunkus.org/videotools/mkvtool...ompression Hope this can be addressed in the near future. RE: DTS Header Compression in MKV
This thread details the issue and the last post is a potential scripted fix. I have a file I will test it out on. WD is releasing a fix soon.. hopefull we will get a fast fix from the PCH team. I just ordered another 110... so really hope so.
http://community.wdc.com/t5/Firmware/If-...724/page/5 ok.. so this so called fix converts the compressed DTS to AC3 I guess..I'm not an expert at this, but it seems re-ripping the disk is my best bet for DTS sound. Is this correct? Also, I tried a couple clips with comressed sound and they did work on my A100 and A110. I did try a clip that didn't work though and my hunch is because the video may have been compressed.. not sure though. Anyone else do any testing on this? Werner.. if this is an issue, and PCH is selling 110's still, we need a firmware fix for this ASAP. |

RE: [AUDIO] DTS Header Compression in MKV
It appears that the 100-models have a problem with the new Header Removal option for Video Tracks, whereas it doesn't have a problem with it for Audio Tracks.
As far as I am informed, the 200-models doesn't have an issue with either. Keld R. Hansen PopCorn MKV AudioConverter: Tutorial FAQ YAMJ Poster Maker |

RE: [AUDIO] DTS Header Compression in MKV
You can use MKVMerge to do that. Simply add the mkv file to the input file list, then choose the video track and under the Extra options tab, set 'no' to compression. It seems that audio has no problems with the compression so you have to do this only for the video. Then set the output filename (I guess you have to use some other name because the old file is the source) and click on 'Start muxing'.
