RE: MKVToolnix4.1.x and Beyond - MKV header compression not supported correctly in PCH
my understanding is they are investigating porting the fix to the 100 series, now that the firmware is out I assume this will get more attention.. it's a wait and see situation.. I've also found it only take a few moments of your time to setup different settings or remux the file.. I also have 200s and 100s and it wasn't hard to come up witha process that is fast, easy and works for both units

RE: MKVToolnix4.1.x and Beyond - MKV header compression not supported correctly in PCH
The very easiest way to fix this problem is actually to download and install an earlier version of MKVToolnix:
http://www.videohelp.com/tools?d=mkvtool...-setup.exe With this version you don't need to set anything, you just 'add' your mkv file to the 'input files' and click the 'start muxing' button. In about 5 short minutes you'll have a playable file, easy peasy lemon squeezy! After all the time and hassle I had trying to fix this the actual fix was so easy and fast it made me laugh. |

RE: MKVToolnix4.1.x and Beyond - MKV header compression not supported correctly in PCH
Maybe 5 mins if you have your mkv files stored locally. But for me it takes hours per file as my movies are stored on NAS (Buffalo LinkStation).
I have a A110 and would appreciate the firmware fix. (08-29-2010 04:46 AM)cmotd Wrote: The very easiest way to fix this problem is actually to download and install an earlier version of MKVToolnix: |

Well yes obviously a firmware fix would be ideal - but if you have something you want to watch, and don't want to wait however long a fix will take to appear, then try that method. You can always do it over night if it's that slow

RE: MKVToolnix4.1.x and Beyond - MKV header compression not supported correctly in PCH
This still isn't an appropriate solution with DTS files. If you remux a file with header compression, that has a DTS audio track, DTS drop-outs return on the NMT A110. This occurs with both the March and August firmwares. If I use GDS Mux to remux, then the drop outs do not occur. However, subtitles - whilst playing fine on MPC HD on Windows - are rendered unintelligible on NMT.
This is a total farce. Why encoders are encoding with compression enabled, for the relatively small gain, is beyond me given the problems it's causing. However, it is in the mkv spec, and NMT _have_ to fix this. I find it outrageous they release a new FW without a fix for this, how hard can it be, exactly? |

RE: MKVToolnix4.1.x and Beyond - MKV header compression not supported correctly in PCH
the 100s are for the most part discontinued.. to have any firmware come out is a thank them profusely for still putting money into these players since sigma no longer makes the chips and they are being generous.. most companies would have completely abandoned a platform they no longer profit from.

Does the A-200 have an issue playing MKV's with header compression?

You will have to wait for the new fw to be released (should be soon since the C200 fw was just released to the public) FYI - one option around the header compression without having to manually shut off every time you use mkvmerge is to use a program like BluRip which allows you to disable header compression once and never think about it again. You can see a writeup I just put together on BluRip here: http://www.mediasmartserver.net/2010/08/...th-blurip/ Cheers, Damian blog - http://www.adigitalhomeblog.com MSS.net blog (contributing editor) - http://www.mediasmartserver.net |
