Connecting from Windows 7 to C-200 3.5" Ext3 HDD
Hi,

I have C-200 with internal 3.5" HDD.
I've formatted the HDD to Ext3 via the maintenance menu options ("refresh setup").

Now, I want to connect from my Windows 7 to my C-200 HDD and copy files, how do I do it?

Thanks,
J.

If you wanna copy video files for the first time from your PC towards your PCH's internal HDD, I'll adwise doing it in USB slave mode, connecting directly your PCH to your computer. Through the network, it might just take too much time if you have dozens of movies you wanna copy.

Just be aware that your PCH's HDD is formated in Ext3 (Linux), which Windows doesn't recognize natively. You first need to install on your PC under Windows 7 a little program which allows the PC to recognize a Linux partition. It is called "Ext2Fsd" and you'll find it easily for download on any downloadsite, it's free of course.

Once you have that little program installed and running, it will be petty easy to copy in USB mode, just by click and drag.

No USB slave on the C200.

I'd go with a 8Gb micro USB stick internally for the NMT Apps. Then use a 3.5" HDD formatted on your PC to NTFS, place whatever you want on it and then use the front slot on the C200 if you are not using a BDROM. If you are then use a 2.5" HDD or look at the C200 modding WIKI page.

Ack, my bad, I have an A-200 and was assuming the C-200 would have an USB slave connectivity too.

Hi,
yes - no USB slave in C-200

I also would prefer to copy data to the 3,5'' HD via a "HDD Quick Dock" in PC.
3,5'' HD formatted in NTFS is easy to use - inside C-200 and inside PC (see chris57).

Copying few data via network also is no problem as explained by lewis26.
But copying a lot of data via WLAN makes no sense. It's too slow.
Wired mode is better.

When you first format the HDD to NTFS when it is connected to your PC load it with the majority of your files. Then take it out of your PC and load the HDD into the C200 via the front loading slot.

Future files can either be downloaded by the C200 onto the HDD or transferred via your network to the NTFS HDD.

You can look at a USB>SATA cable for the HDD>PC connection if you do not have easy access to your PC mobo SATA connectors. They don't cost much and there's even docking versions now with eSATA/USB3 on the likes of Dealextreme.
