Feature Request: Sort files by date
I would like the ability to sort files by date, rather than alphabetically and choose sorting options for each folder.
That way if you're browsing your download directory, all the new stuff would be at the top. An option to list files and directories together, and not the folders first, then files, would be great also. thanks |

Although it is not a final solution, you may be interested in the following thread:

RE: Feature Request: Sort files by date
+1.
I've been using my XBMC only to sort by date and then finding the title on PCH for playback (takes a while to find the title since I have close to 600 folders on that directory). This is such a must-have feature that almost made me return the PCH. It shouldn't be hard to implement so PLEASE (pretty pretty PLEASE) add it to PCH. |

RE: Feature Request: Sort files by date
I use it on my XBMC (relegate to bedroom) quite often, means you can just click the first file for most things.

RE: Feature Request: Sort files by date
Syabas and Werner, this needs to be elevated!
Me and others requested it over a year ago and.... nothing! Ascending/descending sorting of name/date/size for both folders and files is a must! I find myself in "smartins" situation where I have to use XBMC to find my latest addition of TV-episodes for example and then play them on PCH. Pretty, pretty please with a cherry on top, add it already. The otherwise excellent (video)player is a nightmare to navigate with + 5 TB mediafiles. Finally to all goodhearted co-user, I'm NOT interested in any third-partysoftware so please do not suggest any as an answer. Basic sorting on SMB & NFS volumes, that's all I want. |

RE: Feature Request: Sort files by date
I have just received my A-110 today.
I tried my 1080p HD files and I'm very pleased with the results ![]() BUT, I was "shocked" to learn that there's no way to sort my folders when browsing my network share. This is an absolutely Must Have feature, so that, for example, newest movies can be shown at the top. Please add the sorting features very soon, it's almost a deal-breaker for me ![]() Regards Martin |

RE: Feature Request: Sort files by date
Yes Yes Yes.... I've been browsing and searhing for a way to tweak myIhome xml files or other ways to get it to sort the folders by modified date, but no luck.
Such a fan of the XBMC which does this beautifully. So please implement the sorting option in the next release, it should be quite an easy snippet of code to get in there. Cheers Best regards Morten |

RE: Feature Request: Sort files by date
Hello!
I've found this forum with google.com. I'm an author of a programm to sort files by date. It's DateFileSorter: http://www.sortandmovefilesbydate.com Could you give your opinion on it? Is it useful to you or not? And what tools would you like to have? Thanks |

RE: Feature Request: Sort files by date
You have complied with the forum rules in that you have stated your connection to the software you are promoting. I thank you for that.
![]() We are a notoriously tight bunch here though so we need and only recommend free apps unless there is absolutely no free alternative (AnyDVD/DVDFab). Here's a folder sort app that's free:- http://www.jetman.dircon.co.uk/software/foldersort.html In case anyone wants to sort by name or extension, does subfolders as well if you check the box bottom right. Doesn't do dates so you may want to give PaulK $20 app a try and let him know what you think. A400: SSD+SD Card(Apps), HDMI A300: USB(Apps), HDMI C200: USB(Apps), BD SH-B083L(SB01), HDMI CAT6 Wired Network: TV TX-P42G20, HP ProCurve 1400-8G, Netgear GS-608/605, Synology CS407 |

RE: Feature Request: Sort files by date
I thought the request was obvious in it's nature but apperantly not.
I, (many of us), want to be able to choose the way files are sorted and presented when browsing with PCH. Any filebrowser worth it's name can do ascending/descending by name/size/type/date as for example windows explorer. It's not a new invention, it has been done since the beginning of computers. If you don't understand the request, please don't feel obligated to reply. My hope is that this reaches Syabas in some way or form. |
