Skinning and index.htm
OK guys. I've been reading/searching all over, through the WIKI, forums, google, youtube, but simply cannot find an explanation that will help me learn how to skin my NMT user interface.

Currently I have a a-110 w/ 1TB WD internal HDD installed. ATM, all my media is located on a shared folder (on my external HDD connected to my PC).
- I have YAMJ installed successfully. I also successfully installed Aeon Movie Wall Skin.
- I've been trying all day to get a NMT skin installed.

I understand you download and unzip the skin.zip rar file...you get a folder with contents and an index.htm file. from what i understand, you need to edit the index.htm file and set the locations of where you want it to work. THIS IS WHAT I DONT GET.

- I put the skin folder and contents in the "Photos"folder on my internal HDD.
-I was able to set one of the a href locations to the main home screen successfully on one index. So when I went and loaded the index, if i clicked on the skins home icon..it took me back to the PCH main (dull blue and white) home screen.
- So i think I understand the whole process like 50%. How the hell do you get the ENTIRE pch a-110 interface to look like the skin you downloaded? I don't want to see any of the default blue interface screens.
**DO you need to simply edit all the a hrefs locations, and put an index.htm file in every single location?

Also, how exactly can I get a skin's index.htm file to load automatically on boot???...so when I turn on my a-110 I get to see a nice colorful user interface...(browsing deep into my HARD DISK every single time and loading the index file just doesnt seem right, it can't be that much of a hassle....there must be an easier way)

AHH I AM SO FRUSTRATED! I am trying to get the "sister skin" called Speeddial v1.9 installed to accompany the YAMJ skin I'm using: aeon movie wall. SOMEBODY PLEASE HELP ME!

(and please don't tell me to check the wiki or read the forums....i've done that for hours...i'm sure there is an explanation out there..i just can't find it. If you know exactly where this info is in the wiki or wherever and you could give me the link that would be GREAT!)

THANKS IN ADVANCE TO ANYONE WHO OFFERS HELP Big Grin

RE: Skinning and index.htm
the index.htm file must be in the root of your hard drive for it to load automaticly.

I'm not sure exactly what your problem with the Speeddial v1.9 skin is. can you explain your troubles with that a liittle more?

RE: Skinning and index.htm
@excal

OK so I unzipped the speeddial skin file. The folder contains only a "images" folder and the "index.htm" file. Then, I did what you said, and copied both the images folder and index.htm over to the root of my internal HDD. I restarted the pch, and after loading, the homepage part of the skin came up. I tried clicking on "videos" and I just got the Error message with the big exclamation point..with the default blue background. I tried the other icons...same thing. Except when i clicked on "preferences"it took me to the preferences page. However, it was the same old default blue color.

- from what i have read....it sounds like I need to edit the index.htm file and change the location of all the "a href" lines using Notepad ++. that way...when I click on the icons I will be taken to the corresponding part of the user interface and it will be skinned correctly. Am I right?
-eitherway please explain this...if that is what needs to be done I don't feel comfortable changing the locations..i'd like to just see the exact code for it and copy and paste it if possible or something.

I want every aspect of the user interface to be skinned. Just like in the pictures posted in the main thread on Speeddial in the first post. How do I do that? Why have I read in multiple threads that you need to copy the skins folder (containing the index.htm) into the "photos" folder of the internal HDD? (which was obviously wrong...b/c once I put it in the root like you said it worked)

RE: Skinning and index.htm
Eeh isn't the speed dial just for entering number on your remote like a phone? To be able to get quick to genres or letters? Correct me if I'm wrong.
