RE: [TOMY] The Only Mac YAMJ GUI Configuration Tool and Utility
I have the release candidate.
The issue is that Apple has not released a detailed command instruction manual; without that, it's like shooting blind in the dark. I have no idea what commands to issue nor their syntax. For instance, to scan the network for SMB servers, Snow Leopard and most earlier versions of OS X have the "findsmb" command. I've already tried that same command under Lion and NO JOY. Since the previous iterations of OS X have used the Open Source Samba suite, there is plenty of documentation available for developers to take advantage of all its features and functions. Even Apple's Terminal has MAN pages explaining the usage of the various commands. With Apple's SMBX, there is absolutely nothing available. And I can only pray that Apple provides similar functionality as the Samba suite, otherwise, it may be difficult or perhaps impossible to build my own routines to replace whatever functionality was lost in the transition to SMBX. TOMY: The Only Mac YAMJ GUI, now for Windows too! Both available here. |
