Library Scan doesn't detect X:\Movie.Name.(YEAR)\VIDEO_TS as a movie
When performing a scan of a drive with DVD rip's named as follows: "X:\Movie.Name.(YEAR)\VIDEO_TS" none of my films show up except the .iso's
I've scanned popcornforum.de and this forum for an answer but haven't come up with anything. I have tried the Fl4sh Scanner. |

Here is a screenshot of one of my directories:

RE: Library Scan doesn't detect X:\Movie.Name.(YEAR)\VIDEO_TS as a movie
Nobody can help me figure out how to get VIDEO_TS folders to scan properly? Even a tip would be appreciated--I'm so close!

RE: Library Scan doesn't detect X:\Movie.Name.(YEAR)\VIDEO_TS as a movie
Hang in there and I'm sure someone will help out.
I thought the YAMJ Wiki had info about DVD rips but I could not find anything -- to my surprise! I don't use them myself but perhaps the folder needs to be Video_TS instead of all uppercase. It won't matter if the movies are on your PC, but it will if they are on the internal HDD since Linux is case-sensitive. Try and rename 1 movie and re-scan to see if that worked. |

I'm not sure the YAMJ wiki will help the OP, he's using UMC.

RE: Library Scan doesn't detect X:\Movie.Name.(YEAR)\VIDEO_TS as a movie
VIDEO_TS should be the naming.
I setup a test scan using the fl4sh scanner and from what I can tell it's still using the default, but maybe I'm just not familiar with this. That said, using the default scanner I created a directory named The.Conformist.(1970) and put a VIDEO_TS folder inside of it. With the VIDEO_TS folder empty nothing is detected (not shocking), if I place a small .VOB file in it from a DVD that I have, the movie is detected. Without seeing the contents of the VIDEO_TS, maybe a mediainfo of a .VOB in there, and the UMC logs from a scan of a single movie (use the one I mentioned if it's one that's not working when not in iso form) I'm not sure people are going to be able to help much since it seems to work with a default test. Other than you providing that added info, the only things I can think of are to make sure your file permissions are OK and UMC can really see the files inside those folders, and then possibly playing around with a fake dir name and VOB's that work or don't work to look for a pattern. File permissions is definitely the first to check since it should be easy. |

RE: Library Scan doesn't detect X:\Movie.Name.(YEAR)\VIDEO_TS as a movie
Thanks for confirming I'm not alone in thinking there's no documentation on VIDEO_TS folders. You'll all be glad to hear the permissions were definitely off, and I've chmod 777'ed all the files on the drive, and UMC has been much more able to identify movie's I've renamed. I have to assume that because the contents of the VIDEO_TS folders were unreadable UMC assumed they were null, and thus did not identify them.
What I still want to know is, when UMC misindentifies a movie (specifically one in VIDEO_TS format), what is the best way to correct the misrecognition? |

RE: Library Scan doesn't detect X:\Movie.Name.(YEAR)\VIDEO_TS as a movie
VIDEO_TS is really no different than anything else, there isn't anything special that needs documented.
In terms of UMC identifying the name right the most you can do is follow the wiki naming conventions. If it doesn't find the right movie you simply add an xml file to specify the imdb ID, or you can do a manual search on imdb with the name to see what comes up, adjust it until it hits right, and then rename the folder. |
