Can I share an external HDD attached to the A-110 to a HTPC?
OK, so I'm slowly building out my whole house setup here.
I found a great deal for my fiancee's office on a Acer Revo HTPC. She wanted to go with this so she could run some old arcade/emulators in addition to media streaming. I don't particularly want to have the HDDs up in her office, and i'm trying to get them attached to a PCH so I don't have to have the desktop on to serve the files. If I have the external HDD attached to a Popcorn Hour, will the HTPC be able to see the files? Thanks so much!! Charlie |

You'll need a internal hdd with apps installed in the pch to do this.

this is not your best choice streaming from usb on the 100 series is slow. i would look into something like the http://www.tonidoplug.com/ or the guru plugs. they are small low powered servers on a plug and you can just plug usb drives into them.

I will look into that. i'm yeah, basically looking for a low power option so i don't have to leave my monster desktop on all the time. i do have an internal HDD. I just don't really want the HDDs in the living room, the fiancee thinks it looks not so great. I"m lucky she's letting me do all this to begin with so keeping the "guts" out of sight is what i'm trying to do. i might see how concealed i can get the hard drives near the Revo, that might be better. |
