Do you guys know why it's not able to play the file.

TIA Huh

PD: It can be played on my PC w/out issues.

RE: Playback Issue w/MKV File
your file is out of specification

RefFrames = 12 is way to high

you will need to re rip it with RefFrames around 5
also as you are using the latest version of mkvmerge make sure you set the header compression to none

All advice is supplied packaged by intellectual weight, and not by volume. Contents may settle slightly in transit.

RE: Playback Issue w/MKV File
Thanks for the tips. Unfortunately I didn't rip the movie. I got it from the net.

I tried the sticky guide at the top of the forum which teach you to remux mkv files. To my luck, it did't fix the issue. Actually the log didn't show any errors or something.

mmm... then guess that by just using mkvmerge and setting the header compression to none (as you suggested), won't fix the movie. Sad

Try it first. It takes 4-5 minutes at the most.

Dear cheaper_popcorn, as stated before, I already tried it on the movie. Unfortunately the results were the same. It didn't help at all.

Yesterday, to my luck I manage to get another movie which presents the same issue (f***), its details are as follow:

Do you guys have any more ideas what to do when facing these issues on these kind of files? (It's very dissapointing to wait hours to finally get a huge file, to finish getting unplayable stuff on this 'supposed all-playable-stuff player') Angry

You are still remuxing with mkvheader compression on the video if its black and you get audio. try using this took made by a user http://www.networkedmediatank.com/showth...?tid=43845

The only solution that will work 100% is to buy the movie and rip it yourself
instead of pirating

The 200 series got an update to handle MKV header compression anything made with mkvmwere 4.2.0+ suffers from header compression. Syabas has said they will bring this update to the 100 series if they can to handle header compression.

Yea you R totally right, just went to check what you said, and found this:

Man... u guys having the 200 series are so lucky!!! Really wish they could also find the way to implement soon this workaround to the 100 series.

RE: Playback Issue w/MKV File
By googling, reading and learning (special thanks goes to 'halfelite' for the light @ the reply), I've solved the problem for several movies I had problems before (aka not been played by NMT).

Quote:Starting with v4.1.0 mkvmerge uses header removal compression for a couple of track types by default. These include AC3, DTS and MP3 audio tracks as well as Dirac and MPEG-4 part 2 (aka. XviD/DivX) video tracks. The user muxing a file may disable it by explicitely selecting 'none' as the compression scheme for such a track.

By simply changing the following settings for audio and video in mkvmerge and muxing the 'non-playable' files, I've managed to finally get 'playable' files on NMT A-110.

So I'd advice to you guys, dealing with this same issue, to remux your files using mkvmerge but changing the "compression" option to "none". FOR BOTH audio and video. You files will become a little large (just some extra KB, not MB), but for the final product... it's more than worthy! Tongue

I'm adding a little explation below, to all you will have to do:

1) Load the file to remux
2 and 3) Select video (and later audio)
4) Go to "Extra options"
5) Once there, for compression select none
6) Choose a new name for the file to be muxed
7) Launch the process, and wait for while.

The file mkv file you get, has very high possibilites to be a 'playable-file' by NMT.

Really hope this helps, to all of you guys facing the same issue.

PD: I know there's a sticky guide explaining how to mux files by using mkvmerge, unfortunatelly that guide didn't explained the compression option, which comes in handy for A-110 users. Big Grin

Read the thread again my friend, it's self explanatory, read carefully the quoted text at my previous reply:

Quote:Starting with v4.1.0 mkvmerge uses header removal compression for a couple of track types by default. These include AC3, DTS and MP3 audio tracks as well as Dirac and MPEG-4 part 2 (aka. XviD/DivX) video tracks. The user muxing a file may disable it by explicitely selecting 'none' as the compression scheme for such a track.

So... just remux the file using mkvmerge v4.0.0 or later but dissabling compression as explained at "point 5" of previous reply.

Got it?? Wink

PD: As a matter of fact... from now on... the 1st. thing you should do when getting new .mkv files that you plan to play on NTM A-110 or A-100 is checking with "MediaInfo" (maybe there are others apps, that's just the one I use) what mkvmerge version was used to mux the file. So if it was muxed with any version later to v4.0.0 (so it would be v4.1.0 or v4.2.x and so on) you will have to avoid the "mkv header compression" by remuxing the file, before being able to play that .mkv file on NMT.
