RE: I cannot play movies on HDX1000
1. When you connect the HDD to your computer, can you access and use the movies on it?
2. When you say 'cannot play movies' it is not clear exactly what happens. Does the HDX recognize the external HDD? Can you see the files on the HDD when you browse it? 3. Have you tried another playback method? For example, if you have an internal HDD, does the HDX play the media on it normally? 4. What type of movies are you trying to play? Have you tried to turn off the player, remove the power cord, wait for 10 minutes and then start the player again? Does it help? When you connect your external HDD to a computer, can the computer play the media files?
Does your external HDD have its own power supply, or does it get power from the USB cable? Media tank:A-100 & C-200 TV:Panasonic TH-50PY800MT (HDMI) Audio:Logitech Z-5500 (Coaxial) |

Quote:When you connect your external HDD to a computer, can the computer play the media files? That information makes me confused. Have you connected your USB hard drive to your computer since you first had problems with the HDX? (please answer either yes or no) When you open the files on the external hard drive from the computer, do they play? (please answer either yes or no). Don't worry about it, I just want to make sure I understand everything correctly.
Have you installed, or do you use, any extra applications? Can you remember if you changed something on the player before the problem started? Do you have the chance to try playback from a different USB device, like a USB stick? Does that work? Media tank:A-100 & C-200 TV:Panasonic TH-50PY800MT (HDMI) Audio:Logitech Z-5500 (Coaxial) |

Did you use the bottom USB socket as the top one doesn't work from what others say and I remember.

RE: I cannot play movies on HDX1000
@Chris: Yes, he said in an earlier post that he uses the lower USB port, but he still can not play movies.
@Yashima: At least now we know that the USB port on your HDX seems to function normally. But it is still a strange problem. Some suggestions: 1. Reinstall the firmware in the HDX. 2. Is your hard drive formatted in NTFS or ext3? If it is formatted in NTFS: Connect the USB HDD to your PC. Then open "My Computer", right click on the USB HDD icon, then choose "Properties" / "Tools" / "Error Checking". Select "Automatically Fix File System Errors" and "Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors". Then press "Start" and let it run. RE: I cannot play movies on HDX1000
(10-11-2010 03:23 AM)Yashima Wrote: Thank you. Just a thought. I don't have the answers (i'm non techie) but I've had horrendous problems with my HDX 1000 over the last 18 months. I'm on my third motherboard, the common problem was that after a while it lost all the settings i'd put in although I'm connected to a NAS. The two replacements I had were out of guarantee but were replaced (after a long wait from the distributor) without question and at no cost, very good service but I have to ask why. It occurs to me there may be a batch with a design fault? It may be worth trying to get a replacement motherboard. |
