Hello popcorners.
I'm thinking of getting either an IPAD or DROID tablet. But, being both a PCH and tablet nub, have no either how I can get the two to interact. I pretty much would like to do 3 things:
Can I/Cant I? Which is the better choice of OS? THANKYOU ! |

Thanks Halfelite.
I think I was struggling to understand the playback option. I think DROID allows direct playback from the PCH, but with the iPAD (and because its .AVI) I'd have to leave my PC on with the PCH as a networked drive and use an on the fly converter. Is this right? THANKS ! |

You would have to use air video. I use it running on my server for my ipad, and it works flawlessly.
C-200 || YAMJ || AEON || Lowlist 75% Acer Aspire EasyStore WHS [(1) 1TB WD Green(sys), (2) 1.5TB Samsung Spinpoint(data), (1) 2TB WD Green (data)] Vivitek H1080FD || 110" DIY BOC screen || Onkyo HT-S6100 || Logitech Harmony 1100 || (2) Netgear GS-605 |

CineXplayer for the iPad will allow you to load .avi's right onto the iPad and has very nice playback features. Not all video/audio codecs are supported ATM, but it has been improving with every update. I Don't watch a whole lot of video on my iPad, so I mostly just load movies on it for long car trips or when going to a friends house. Also, the speaker on the iPad is okay, but can be kind of quiet sometimes when watching video. I've tried several of the streaming apps when I first got my iPad, but never had much luck getting any of them to stream over uPnP or off a SAMBA share. I do have to say that I use my iPad for browsing the web, checking, email, and updating facebook while I'm watching things on my TV in the living room.
Not sure if that helps persuade you one way or another, but I thought you might like to hear my experiences with using the iPad. I hope it helps! |

RE: My PCH and IPAD or DROID? Which one?
OPlayer is free and does the trick too on mu ipad.
However, managing file structures is much more available on Droid (i have an ipad for a week now) to my knowledge. Any suggestions on managing files / directories ? C200 and A200 both with 1,5 TB Samsung Green, wired 100 Mb LAN. I love those Apps: PWRC, UZG. (a WD caviar green 500Gb gave hang-ups with the C200). Sony 42W5500 with Sony 5.1 Home theatre setup and LG 37LD450. Three External HDD's of 350 Gb (1) and 500 Gb (2) on a different physical location for extra Back-Up. |

If you look at the websites for where syabas is going ot be in trade shows, it looks like extravegtables might be releasing some new app remotes for the syabas products soon.
