A-110, Aspect ratio on resume for SD mkv files
Haven't been able to dredge this issue up from the forums (am I searching the wrong string?).
I have the latest firmware, and this was occurring with previous (old) firmware as well.

I have an issue affecting standard definition (width of 720 pixels) MKV videos, but not high definition, and only the wide aspect ratio flicks, not the "full screen" 1.33 AR files. The files in question are x264-encoded video streams (AC3 audio), the single XviD file I have doesn't seem to be affected. The problem applies only to widescreen (1.78, 2.35) aspect ratio films.

The problem is, when I stop the movie, then come back to it later, it resumes from the automatic bookmark, but the aspect ratio is incorrect. The 2.35AR films are now taller, more like about 2.00 (the black bars across the top and bottom are shallower, the video is stretched vertically), and the 1.78AR films are now narrower (now there are bars along the left and right edges, the video is compressed horizontally). If I hit "0" to go back to the beginning, it stays in the new incorrect aspect ratio. This is not a cascading problem; that is, when I stop and start the incorrectly rendered video, it doesn't become *more* incorrect, it stays at the same incorrect AR that it defaulted to on the initial restart.

Doesn't appear to be a problem with my hi def x264 content, only the standard def x264-encoded material.

Any thoughts? If I could simply start the flick from the beginning (purge the bookmark?), I suspect that would be good enough.

RE: A-110, Aspect ratio on resume for SD mkv files
I know this problem, I have to reset the A/R every time I view a new video file other than VOBs or ISOs...

Use your zoom key on the remote, when it hits the zoom-%, the A/R should become correct. FYI, you have to set zoom to 100 before this resetting occurs.

Very annoyingAngry

Thankyou Boulder, never thought to mess around with the zoom function. It's an inconvenience to be sure, but you know, my A-110 has served me so well for so long now, I think I can cope Cool
