RE: [NMJ] Enhancement Requests
A adjustable wall view would be nice.
Maybe instead of 24 thumbnails in 3 rows only 12 much bigger thumbnails in two rows. C-200, 2nd A-400 |

RE: [NMJ] Enhancement Requests
How about a .no_scan.nmj exclude file that stops the NMJ from scanning an already scanned folder, but without removing the contents from the database?
With this, we could stop the NMJ from deleteing art/media info that we have modified to our liking with 3rd party apps, but still use NMJ refresh to scan for and add new media. |

Don't decouple!
Making it part of the firmware allows non hard disk popcorns access to the NMJ. (and yeah I know old face )

RE: [NMJ] Enhancement Requests
I wish the db verification could recognize when a new movie has been added and not music or anything else. Currently when a new movie is added it will scan both movies and then my whole music folder and it's sub-dirs which takes an hour.

RE: [NMJ] Enhancement Requests
On the music portion of the NMJ, if you have an album with multiple discs (example. white album), it ignores the disc # and just lines up the order as track 1 d1, track 1 d2, track 2 d1, track 2 d2....etc.
When you have collections with 10+ discs, it gets ugly.... |

RE: [NMJ] Enhancement Requests
I'd like to have the possibility to set a default view per share. I now have to switch back and forth between Movie and Series when I switch between these shares. I think it's logical to have 1 type of files per share, and a viewtype linked to that would be great.
Also I'd like to have the refresh after an update to be done automatically. Quite useless to have to press a button to do this. Also the possibility to set a share to automatically update when you enter it would be nice. I have a share where I put my movies that I download, watch and delete. This is quite dynamic, and having it update the moment I start NMJ for that share would be nice. RE: [NMJ] Enhancement Requests
Greetings,
I gave NMJ a honest try for about two days, but now I have deleted all traces of it ( I hope ) and am awaiting a true 1.0 version. My vote goes to most of the enhancement requests. If the 3 most important criteria for real estate are location, location, location, then the 3 most important enhancements for NMJ are speed, speed , speed. Scanning speed is ridiculous, but I could live with that since using EMBER MEDIA MANAGER to organize movie metadata. Alternatively why could NMJ not just read the NFO files instead of second guessing everything and messing up some good NFO information. The biggest show stopper for me was the Music Album view. Changing views takes about one minute, and showing album tracks takes more than a minute ( ??? ) - why build a db and then not use it ? Video views are also way too slow compared to any YAMJ skin. To conclude in a positive note : good job on the UI so far, I would love to have an integrated tool to manage all media, but the current release is does not fit the bill yet ( nothing big to handle anyway : 500 albums, 70 movies, 3000 pictures ) From a big fan of the PCH A-200 open architecture. _____optical___ Pioneer VSX-1015 surround | A200 ----HDMI---> Pioneer PDP-506 XDE plasma | wired Linksys WRT54GS | wired Dell Studio XPS - Win 7 Pro 64 - 2 Tb Raid 1 |

RE: [NMJ] Enhancement Requests
can nmj also look for .no_photos, .no_videos, .no_music as with the .nmj extension on this causes an issue on some NAS units as files with 2 periods permanently become hidden files or are just removed.

RE: [NMJ] Enhancement Requests
id say NMJ is not for everybody! very difficult to use and it takes up a lot of time to organize your movie. I wish theyd come up with a simple movie organizer software that NMJ will recognize so that it wont have to update each time a movie is added.

(02-04-2011 03:01 PM)b1tbull Wrote: Greetings, Full agreement here - The key problem here I think is Flash. Flash (especially on Linux) is known to be dog slow, so why develop a UI in it? You don't need Flash for a flashy UI. The XBMC UI is pretty damn nifty and it runs like a dream on my old Apple TV which, from a hardware perspective, is a donkey compared to my C200. I do worry that Popcorn could end up dropping out of the market because their UI is such a problem. If I was on the architecture team I'd throw NMJ out completely and start again with something more performant. The music functionality of the queue etc. is really nice. Unfortunately using the Popcorn as a music device with NMJ is, as you say, utterly impossible. The problem gets progressively worse the more data you add. Part of this is related to Flash and another to the way in which data is stored in the database and on the filesystem. It's far from optimal. Sorry - Technical rant over . It's only because I care. Did you have a look at Ember Media Manager (EMM ) and YAMJ ? EMM does a nice job managing the movie collections and building NFO files, which are then picked up by YAMJ to build the UI. Many YAMJ skins available at Ometeron's Media Player site. I looked at a lot ( almost all ?) of the free tools in the past year, the learning curve was steep but worth the effort and this combo beats NMJ big time. Just found out : Ember Media Manager web site is off line and the installer requires the web site to be install... Too bad - this was excellent freeware , there seems to be en open source version available here : http://sourceforge.net/projects/emm-r/ but I have not tested this release. Latest update : found another open source program Media Companion ( as good as Ember and XBMC compatible ) : http://www.billyad2000.co.uk/ Had to tweak fanart and poster file names a bit , but Media Companion has now replaced Ember ( RIP ) _____optical___ Pioneer VSX-1015 surround | A200 ----HDMI---> Pioneer PDP-506 XDE plasma | wired Linksys WRT54GS | wired Dell Studio XPS - Win 7 Pro 64 - 2 Tb Raid 1 |

RE: [NMJ] Enhancement Requests
Hi,
I asked before but I will add it to this thread as well. I would really like it if the repeat a-b function can be made to work on other media files than just dvd's or dvd iso's. I mean avi, wmv and mp3 for example. |

RE: [NMJ] Enhancement Requests
A lot of great ideas, I agree with most of them but not de-coupling the NMJ from the firmware. I do not want to add a drive to my A-210.
Also not captured in the first post are: - password entry to use other than screen keyboard where everyone can watch what you type! - proper usb keyboard support - passwords via remote and/or keyboard - password protect rescan and update - parental control to support other than us ratings (in my case uk) Popcorn Hour A210 no HDD, QNAP 419p 8TB Raid 5 PCH A-210 Firmware 02-04-101104-21-POP-411 (17.12.2010), No Apps |

RE: [NMJ] Enhancement Requests
I REALLY want the artist to be displayed along with the Album title in wall view... Why wouldnt you?
Also, until the NMJ scan is as good as (say) NMJ Toolkit, there HAS to be some scanning options to allow NMJ to be used selectively. At the moment, the NMJ scan does way more harm than good after we have all struggled to build our databases, so is therefore totally unuseable. With some small additions to be able to stop NMJ scanning/breaking already created folders it could at least be used to add new media without breaking the existing data. If Syabas cannot fix the NMJ sufficiently in the next release to allow us to stop it doing harm, then they should admit that they've blown it initially and add some functionality to allow us to at least use some parts or to integrate some apps that do work. I'd like NMJT to be an official product to be honest - at least then we would have a good base product to work with and for Syabas to expand upon. |

RE: [NMJ] Enhancement Requests
My wishlist for enhancements:
- when scanning make use of info in .nfo files. For YAMJ scanning I have now for each movie a structure of file1.ISO, file1.nfo (containing the information such as synopsys and category in my language) and file1.jpg (front cover of dvd or blue ray). MovieJukebox picked up the nfo an fanart correctly, but NMJ does not seem to not pick up the info of the .nfo file. - for music: Show author and song title in the playlist for compilation cds. |
