Egreat eg-m31b firmware update?

Hi,
are there any new firmwares for egreat eg-m31b? There were no updates for about 1-2 years

Or it is possible to use another (popcorn) firmware for it?

Oh man, I hope we all here are clever people... whisper away from permanent ban....
I don't want to hack, reflash or do something to break eGreat license or something!!!
I just want to fix many bugs and drawbacks presented in a year old EG-M31B-M33A-M34A-FW-20091022 firmware.

Because eGreat is no longer supporting their products (it seems to me) I am asking on possible solution.

Perhaps there is a non-firmware fix or workaround for your problems. If you post a message about the specific issues, someone might have some useful suggestions. Otherwise, by insisting on a firmware solution, you're out of luck.

1) Generally the EG is unstable (unfortunatelly it is firmware problem
2) Problems with network connection (green led indication and connection to network is established in 1 case from 10 startups)
3) Photoslideshow can be set to minimum 4 secs, even with that it takes about 5-7 secs between photos) Any configuration file for that?

You asked for advice on how to use a Popcorn firmware on your egreat. That is cross-flashing and as the rules explicitly state ANY mention of this WILL result in a permanent ban. I gave you the benefit and you give me smart talk in return!

Some NMT's have different license paid for, thats one of the reason why some are cheaper than others. Those licenses are at risk if the firmware is used on other NMT's.
Some companies spend a lot on firmwares development and some spend nothing.
Some companies abandon players before they are 100%, some dont.

Pick your brand carefully and remember that as in most things in life you get what you pay for. Do not expect Syabas or PCH to continue developing your NMT brand, if your brand decides to stop development.

This doesn't tell us anything. As far as I know, one of the rubber feet has come off and it's wobbly. Be more specific if you're going to blame the firmware.

This sounds like a hardware issue, and not necessarily the NMT's hardware. How do you know that the port on your router/switch hasn't gone bad or that mice aren't chewing on your cables?

No, this is hardcoded and I doubt that any other firmware (even if you could crossflash) would let you set less than 4 seconds. The delay could be anything from huge file sizes to network traffic, if the images aren't stored locally. Even if they are stored locally, perhaps you have a harddrive issue. Maybe the drive is getting hammered with read-write requests from torrents you're downloading.


Don't be so hasty when deciding whether or not to hack your system. The level of troubleshooting you've done (or at least described to us) does not yet support the conclusion you've jumped to.

In comparison to Popcorn, eGreat gets down more often when I trying to play several not so comon files or DVD rips (it is not so stable).

I must admit, it is possible, I will try new cable (I already tried another router port without any success.

Many players (Popcorn) can be set to 1-x sec delay. EGreat starts loading new photo from HD after 4 sec, it means up to 7 sec between pictures.

I had a M31B and was happy enough for a couple of years... When it started strange behaviors, and after finding out by reading here that it is no longer supported, plus there were legal issues, I got rid of it (I actually gave it to my sister..) and got myself a C-200..
I guess your time has come to do something similar..

So you also have a Popcorn box, or access to one? You didn't address the question of media storage. Are the files stored locally, on a network drive, on the Popcorn box that is shared to the Egreat?

You also didn't address what other applications might be interfering with the Egreat, such as background torrents downloading or some other network traffic. I have seen an additional delay in starting to play a video file when I have a bunch of torrents or SAMBA file transfers writing to my internal drive, although once it starts playing it's fine. But if my harddrive were beginning to go bad, I don't think it would keep up.

The fact that your network connection is inconsistent suggests to me that the hardware is failing and the CPU (which is pretty weak in the 100-series) might be wasting processing cycles trying to make it work. No firmware is going to fix a bad NIC, and there have been other reports of bad NICs on Egreats. I'm afraid there's not much troubleshooting you can do beyond what you've already done. I doubt your reseller will have anything to do with you anymore, but it's worth a carefully crafted cry for help and it won't cost you anything to ask.

Could heat be an issue? I'm not familiar with your exact model nmt, but some of them NEED a fan. If yours is inside a cabinet or enclosed space that could be a factor.

Lastly, perhaps your photo-viewing requirement would be better served by another application than the built-in functionality. You could build your own playlist file (http://www.networkedmediatank.com/wiki/i...list_File) or perhaps one of the jukebox projects like DMJ or UMC would work better for you- I have no experience with anything other than YAMJ, so I can't guide you further.

Maybe I was faster than you (I moved to C-200 I year ago But my sister (father) still has issues with M31B....

I also have the M31B and i can say that I'm satisfied with it.
But recently due to HDD falure i have to reinstall the NMT apps.
I can't find them anywhere and the links mentioned in here are broken.
Can some one please send me a working link or send me a pm???

I'm also in the same boat. I've spent literally hours on the site and I can't find a working link to the nmt apps either. The EG-M31B-M33A-M34A-FW-20090204 and earlier updates that I have found working links to say in the release notes "1. No NMT apps, still previous 00-17-090115-15-EGR-403" and they DO NOT contain the syb8634.nmt file which is the component that has the nmt apps.

It's been over a year since I set the nmt up and it was really simple and uneventful so I don't recall how I did it before, I'm pretty sure it just downloaded the apps off the net it's self, but as we all know that option is no longer working.

I tried grabbing the syb8634.nmt file from a popcornhour firmware upate and putting it on a usb thumbdrive and it found them and formatted the drive but when it got done formatting it errored out. I don't recall the exact error as it was late, but it was something like it had encountered an incorrect source. I'm sure it's somehow checking to see if it's in a Popcornhour machine or not before proceeding.

Note - the above is NOT crossflashing so please don't flame me. I'm just attempting to find the software that is intended for my player. At the time I bought my player Egreat should've been playing nice and actually paid the fee for my unit so I should have the right to that software. I have considered trying the EG-M31B-M33A-M34A-FW-20091022 firmware upgrade as it's listed as having updated NMT software but the unit has worked fine so I'm not sure I want to try new firmware and any new bugs it may create, and I've heard it's actually hacked firmware which makes me kinda uncomfortable. I've thought about just trying the nmt apps but then I didn't know if they would want the updated firmware.

All in all I just want the NMT apps that were used by the EG-M31B-M33A-M34A-FW-20090204 firmware update. Does anyone have a working link to those?
