Youtube freezing
First I just want to say that I love the Youtube app and its interface.
My only problem with it, is that it starts to skip after watching a few videos in a row... I haven't really been able to count how many, but I'd say after 8 or 9 videos (not sure if the length of the videos are a factor).
By skipping I mean that it'll play 4 secs then pause, play 4 secs then pause... very annoying. The only way I've found to correct this was to reboot the popcorn. Exiting the Youtube app and reopening it, does not fix the issue, you really have to reboot.

At first I disregarded it, blaming it on my internet connection. But when it started happening more often, I did tests from my other devices (wii, PS3) and PCs while the prob was occurring on the Popcorn and I had no issues playing Youtube on these devices which are for the most part using wireless connections, my Popcorn Hour is connected to a Lan cable.

One thing that does cause the Popcorn to freeze intermittently and I'm sure everyone's aware of this bug already is when you hit the "i" info button to bring up the the seek slider bar, sometimes you won't be able to exit the info by hitting the return button, nor can you stop the video from playing, you have to wait for the video to finish before exiting. I'm not too familiar on how to check the running processes on the Popcorn, but I have a feeling that it causes a second instance to run, because what I've experienced a few times is that when it gets stuck on "info" view, and you let the video finish, you load another video, exit the app before the video finishes and although you're navigating other menus on the popcorn, you can still hear the audio from the youtube video playing in the background. So anyway, I thought this might be causing the skipping I was experiencing. But I was able to reproduce the skipping without ever hitting the "i" button.

So in any case, this looks like a memory leak to me as it only starts happening after running a few videos and clears up with a reboot.

RE: Youtube freezing
So is this not happening to anybody else??? If this is isolated only to me and niche2000, would anyone be able to suggest something that could fix this problem?

thanks

RE: Youtube freezing
Have exactly same problem. After watching 8-9 videos, all others stutter. Exiting the youtube app and restarting it, it solves the problem for the next 8-9 videos and then it starts again.

Same here, but I think it has been better since I upgraded to the latest youtube-application.

RE: Youtube freezing
Same problem here. It happens after 10-15 min. and full reboot is the only solution

RE: Youtube freezing
The same problem here.
I'm guessing the youtube app buffers all video, but doesn't flush the memory/temporary dedicated storage after every video is exited/stopped.
So after a while the buffer is fully and it starts to swap the memory/storage on the fly.
This would definitely be a faulty design in either the handling of the NMT of the App or in the App itself.

RE: Youtube freezing
Same here: we were watching youtube videos with some friends yesterday evening when it started freezing periodically after around 8 vids watched. I got my load of sarcasms ("my phone does better than your box") and we had to boot a laptop to keep our audience entertained Undecided

Nothing lasts forever. It is especially true for electronic devices. Thank God, consumerism will make you happy to purchase a more fashionable device as soon as the old one starts to fail.

RE: Youtube freezing
Same problem here ... (we just bought a c200 and everything works great with the latest firmware except youtube). The symptoms are the same: it works fine but after a few videos it is not usable any more: 5 seconds music, 5 seconds silence, 5 seconds music, 5 silence, ...; only a reboot has it working again until after a few clips 5 seconds music, 5 silence ....

The pc on the same switch streams youtube videos without any problems, no network problems here. I can stream other videos from internet and they work fine. It looks like a flash problem to me.

It would be great to have this solved :-) (please pretty please).

RE: Youtube freezing
I have a workaround, it's not nice but it's fast and I do not have to reboot the unit.

Uninstall the app, reinstall the app. That will give you about half an hour of normal youtube usage.

RE: Youtube freezing
No answer from Syabas after one month. Pity. It's really a major bug, it makes the youtube app useless.
