ftp server and upload images from ipcam
I have installed ipcam and in the settings choose ftp server of A-110 to upload the images.
I'm doing a test with the firmware of the ipcam and get "Test ... Failed Can not upload file. Please be sure your account is authorized" although ftpuser and ftppasword is correct. (it's the one i use with filezilla) Even after the test, i have a file "000C5D710432(ipcam1)_test.jpg" in my map /share/ipcam but the file has 0 kB. Has anybody a suggestion ? thanks Popcorn Hour A-110 + 1 TB Hard disk (WD Caviar Green Power WD10EADS) |

RE: ftp server and upload images from ipcam
Just to make sure; if you setup an FTP server on your PC, it works to dump photos there?

RE: ftp server and upload images from ipcam
I have setup ftp server on pc and on the internet (Easy Share).
The same test results. "Test ... Failed Can not upload file. Please be sure your account is authorized" But each time a file ".........(ipcam1)_test.jpg" is created but the file has 0 kB. Looks like the ipcam is sending the image but somehow the file isn't containing an image, it's empty ? Popcorn Hour A-110 + 1 TB Hard disk (WD Caviar Green Power WD10EADS) |

RE: ftp server and upload images from ipcam
It could be empty. Or the ftp client on the IP-cam may be corrupt, or require some config, just to mention some theories.
Perhaps there's an update to the cam? Or can you do some kind of factory reset on it? Audio, video, disco - I hear, I see, I learn. Wiki. Wiki? Wiki! |

I have the same problem with my Dericam M801W would it be possible that the file name format is not accepted by the ftp server? I copied this from a manual for Foscam camera's "00606E8C1930(sarah)_0_20100728114350_25.jpgPlease check if your FTP server supports this format of file name" |

Quote:would it be possible that the file name format is not accepted by the ftp server? That's a really good point! In that case there's not much one can do is there? |

Test if the name is a problem for this FTP server via other ftp client. 2. If 1. fails, change FTP service and try again. A semi-lenghty-40-character-ish name containing parenthesis is really something that a normal FTP server should be able to handle. Audio, video, disco - I hear, I see, I learn. Wiki. Wiki? Wiki! |

RE: ftp server and upload images from ipcam
I have just setup an IP camera with my Qnap nas FTP server, and i get the exact same reply.
The strange thing is that i initially tried my server on port 21 and i got pictures uploaded just fine. I could se clearly what was going on. Then i changed it to a higher port number, to lower the possibility of hacker attacks on the default port 21. After that i have encoutered this very problem as you describe. Futhermore i can set my filename to what i want. So even if i set it at "Cam1_01.jpg" I still get this error. The test gives my the access error, however when it worked in the first place, the test was giving me errors also. I can verify that it works when i set it back to the default port 21 |
