success: mlb.tv playing off the PCH! (in ubuntu)
here's a quick setup to watch mlb.tv on PCH using VLC in ubuntu. It WON'T work in windows because the mlb.tv codec is not supported in the windows version of vlc.
first a few tools/programs you will need with linux: mlbviewer: http://sourceforge.net/projects/mlbviewer this program will allow you to watch mlb.tv in linux. you will also need the python program described on the site to make it work vlc: http://www,videolan.org ok, install mlbviewer. you can read the website to figure it out, any questions about this should be directed to this forum thread: http://www.linuxquestions.org/questions/...age47.html after you do the install, browse to your home directory, and find the ".mlb" folder. edit the "config" file to do the following: input your username, and what speed you want change video_player from "xterm -e mplayer -cache 2048 -quiet" to simply "vlc" (no quotes). this will load the player with vlc. fire up mlbviewer in your command line (python mlbviewer.py) load a game, it should load the mms link in vlc. Let it play and do not stop it... now comes the streaming part: right click on the vlc window, "miscellaneous/Media Info" Keeping the video playing, copy the url, and then go to "file/open network stream" input the url under http:// click stream/save, and go to settings click next to http://, port use 1234... video codec: mp1v, around 1000kb audio codec: mpga i use 64kb click ok, then click ok.... vlc should stream the game with no problem. access it by going to http://your.local.ip:1234 something like: http://192.168.1.49:1234 create a small html file on a flash disk with this code: Code: <br/>load it with pch, and your games playing. [/code] |

RE: success: mlb.tv playing off the PCH! (in ubuntu)
Anybody trying the latest code with the 2009 season?
The whole reason I bought my Popcorn Hour was so that I wouldn't have to lug my laptop over to the TV for things like this. |
