There are setting in Youtube Embedding and Syndication (Refer to the screen captured below) that publisher can set for the video they upload. These setting could affect the playability of the video on mobile or devices that connected to TV.

Is this a newly added setting? If it was added this week, then that would probably explain the problem. And if the default option is set to "no", this could potentially render the app useless for a very large proportion of the videos on YT.

I just tried to upload a video to Youtube. The default setting seems to be "yes"

It's been there since Day 1. I had it on the first 3 music videos I tried to watch that's why I was familiar with it.

I try to play YouTube videos; many of them won't play an error message appeared and tells me that I can't play embedded video or something like that..

And that is supposed to be fixed how? lol that error is there for a reason they want you to watch them videos on a pc so you can get the ads and what not.

Is it possible to install version 1.5.8 of the youtube app? For that matter, is there any way to go back to a previous version of any app should we for any reason prefer the older version? This is simple enough with the firmware updates, which can be downloaded and backed up as they are released. It is not clear to me how this may work with the Apps Market, however.

I've noticed the exact same thing. Specific videos that would play in version 1.5.8 no longer play with 1.5.9, going back several months at least. I'm getting the same message about embedded players for all of them. I don't think it's a setting on the videos that have changed. I would like to try re-installing version 1.5.8 to see if that works, but I don't know how to get version 1.5.8 at this point. Can anyone help?

Nice you didn't update yet. May I ask you to do a quick test? Can you stream the videos of the rai channel? I was able to do it, before the update to 1.5.9. Thank you for your help. Best Regards.

If v.1.5.9 has caused a problem then as we have seen 3 Youtube App updates over the last fortnight I'd expect it to be fixed ASAP.

However as I have had this from Day 1 I dont think its Youtube App related just that some channels have changed their settings. That's why we need the test to see.

I just tried: They don't play with 1.5.8 as well (playback not allowed in embedded players). The only one that worked amoung those 32 at the first page was the one with MARCO TRAVAGLIO.

So it seems that the issue was not introduced with 1.5.9, but relates to changes made on YouTube.

I have also seen this problem before 1.59. But if i play the same video on my ipod touch theres no problem.
How come?
