[Bug] Playback crashes, have to restart

Playback crashes, have to restart
Has anybody experienced crashed watching AVI's/DIVx ?

It only happens when jumping to certain parts of the video (eg, 10%, 20%, etc), and it only happens sometimes. Instead of the video jumping, playback freezes, and in about 10-15 seconds, you get thrown back to your file list.

After that, you cannot play any file. Any attempts, will just return you back to the file list. (like the ability to play video files, has crashed).

Only solution is to restart.

I've been experiencing this for months, but never really bothered me until recently (to the point I have more and more AVI files in my collection).

I can play this file, jump around randomly using the remote control to several parts of the video file (30%, 60%, back to 20%, then to 80%, etc). At some point it freezes, and crashes.

Here's the mediainfo of the file:

Here's the mediainfo of the file:

Age old problem dating back to when the August firmware release was introduced. Seems to be that since that firmware release playback of avi files is much more choosey concerning the quality of the encoding. Have found that it is not just divx but also xvid as well and some encoding engines and codecs are a lot worse than others. Only fullproof solution seems to be to remux them to mkv format with AVIMux_GUI, then the problem seems to go away.

Other way of course is to roll back to a firmware prior to August, but then you lose all the latest nmt improvements, e.g. jukebox, youtube etc.

RE: Playback crashes, have to restart
Same here - really quite annoying. This is definitely my No. 1 issue with this product, and actually makes the device quite unusable.
