RE: C-200 Dead PSU - Just for the record
My power supply also died. I was first batch. No luck getting a free one. Too bad, but at least it's only $30. Guy on phone support said they are not aware of power supplies dying, and it's not a known issue.

RE: C-200 Dead PSU - Just for the record
Like you say the same the world over. Comes with having scripts to follow and paying low wages for customer support in my opinion.
The C200 failing PSU is the number one issue with the C200. With the A100 it was the NIC. They'll always be a number one. First batch owner here. Well sort of first batch anyway... :-) My PSU quit right after a firmware update (luckily, AFTER...) White/orange flashes. PC ATX supply works peachy.
I'm going to go out on a limb here.. - Switching PSUs are complicated, and live on the edge of stability. They die from time to time, often spectacularly. - The OEM one was not manufactured by Syabas. I'm sure they knew the potential lifespan as well as we did -- which is to say, excrement occurs. - The PCH *is* an inexpensive product, for what it does. Oh YES, it is. I couldn't build an equivalent, hardware alone, for twice the cost. As such, I have no bones about ponying up the replacement cost after a reasonable warranty period lapses. Live and learn Syabas, re: suppliers. - $27 for a new PSU made my day. Most of my cables cost more. As for shipping, I couldn't get any piece of electronics to Alaska from within the US for the same cost. I don't know if the replacement comes from China or California, but I don't see how it could come from anywhere over 100 miles away without someone losing their shorts at the quoted rate. - Oh yeah.. the only thing dead is the old PSU. I'm going to thank my stars it didn't take with it my now-rare LG BD/HD-DVD combo drive. Or the motherboard. So overall, sad the original didn't hang in there for a few more years; but perfectly satisfied with a readily-available, inexpensive remediation. Anyone on here talking about entitlement and small claims court needs to come by my place for a free smackin'. Sure, some companies have done better. Most at Syabas' size have done far worse. Color me impressed, and consider this my donation to R&D on the threshold of cost vs. reliability.Cheers. |

RE: C-200 Dead PSU - Just for the record
I'll chime in with a "Me too!" here.
My C200 PSU blown, it seems - completely unresponsive, fuse OK. Don't know whether it was first batch, don't know if it matters. I've had the unit for ages and will be out of warranty. So, do I need to make the call to the US, or is there a European/Dutch number I can call to get a new PSU? Thanks for any tips. Hardware: PCH-C200 / QNAP TS409 NAS |

I'd love to look at one of these blown C200 PSU's, see if a simple component swap would get them working again

Hi moddigi,

However, this mentions symptoms that are different to what my system is showing (which is absolutely nothing). Not going to try this just yet, though. But HTH. Hardware: PCH-C200 / QNAP TS409 NAS |

RE: C-200 Dead PSU - Just for the record
Joy!!! Purchased a replacement C-200 PSU in feb '11 and now Dec '11 dead flashing c-200, works fine with ATX PSU. These PSU's are complete crap! want to see if PCH will replace it free of charge.
I am so sick of this!

RE: C-200 Dead PSU - Just for the record
Seeing as the C-200 PSU is now out of stock on the PCH store; I guess its the must have accessory everyone one wants for Xmas, I found http://linitx.com/viewproduct.php?prodid=12635 do a bundled Pico PSU & external brick for £46 in the UK. Hoping it works and lasts longer than the crap PCH ones.
Hope someone finds this useful, will update post if I have any problems with it. C-200 1TB WD Green Internal, 1080p Panasonic 46" Plasma. Cat6 Wired, Procurve Layer 2 switched Gigabit, 8TB RAID5 SAS (sata) - Suse Linux 11.4. |

Just got home from a trip, and Popcorn Hour c-200 power supply is dead I think. Found this thread on the forum. I've unplugged mine, plugged it back in and turned it on from rocker switch in back. power button glows constant red. When I hit the power button in front, it then blinks orange then white, kinda makes a noise as well while it's doing it. Fuse looks fine. Is this a blown power supply? Saw the website's selling them, but out of stock ![]() Any help or info would be appreciated as always. thanks ak PCH-C200: 16GB USB (Apps), 2TB 3.5" HDD (Int), 2TB Elements (Ext) HDMIv1.3 A/V: Samsung 55" UN55C9000--HDMIv1.4--Denon 3311ci --HDMIv1.4--BD-C5900 player Storage/Network: 4 x 2TB ReadyNas NV+, Linksys EG005W 5-Port, Netgear GS108 8-Port |

RE: C-200 Dead PSU - Just for the record
Happy to report the PICO ATX kit worked 100%. Took all of 5 mins to install, I used one of the existing holes in the case for the external socket to mount.
Will adapt the PSU cables to cut into the cables and solder and make use of the existing switch at the rear of the unit when I get time. All in all, happy happy... Regards. Slackness. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()
