Harddisk clone
Hi.
I am going to setup 300 pcs of IOBOX 100HD. Do's anyone have a solution for cloning harddrives to use on the media player. I have tried with Miray HDClone software without sucess. |

RE: Harddisk clone
Personally, I use the *nix "dd" command. I've cloned virtually everything with the command so long as the destination drive is as big or bigger then the source drive. Cheap too because its free.
Might not be your cup of tea? C-200, A-110 both playing from a DIY Linux Raid 5 server. Remuxes, Captures and Transcodes done on a desktop running; Win7, Intel i7 hexacore processor with 24 GB ram, WD VR OS drive and a WD Black 2 TB data drive. |

RE: Harddisk clone
Use GPARTED; it can copy complete partitions of different formats from one drive to anaother.
You can download a live cd from sourceforge.net |

It can do things that dd can't unless you do a lot of hard drive math. I'll still use dd (it's easy to find) but I added that disk to my collection. Thanks for the URL. Oh.......and it's free. Clonezilla is Linux based and and the drive your trying to clone is using a Linux filesystem. Should not be a problem except for time it will take if it's a large drive. RE: Harddisk clone
I have met similar situation recently. I googled and I found copy software, Disk Copy, a free disk clone software regardless of your operating system. It offers sector-by-sector copy method assures you a 100% identical copy to the original. What's more it can automatically create a bootable CD/DVD or usb disk to copy entire disk easily without booting your computer. However, because it is sector level, it may take a long time.

RE: Harddisk clone
How did you resize mate? I've used Clonezilla to clone a 750GB drive to a 2TB one, however after trying GParted to extend the 700GB partition it's taking AGES to do it...?
