[Bug] A-200 mkv freezes

Hey guys,

I've had a A200 for a while with no problems at all. I've recently set it up with a projector via HDMI and a receiver via optical (it has no hmdi input) and the problems started, as any mkv (divx or avi files don't seem to be affected) freezes for some seconds while the sound continues and then the image fast forwards itself in order to resync with the audio that had had no interruption.
This is a differente bug from to one reported by many of you the c200 image going blank and out of sync with the a/v because in this case image never goes blank, just freezes.
All theese files play fine and fluently in my normal setup (nmt---hdmi---tv) with video settings 1080p/24fps and framerate sync turned off. I've tried to play with the settings in order to fix the problem but nothing seemed do work...What can I do?

I am also having exact same problem with my A-200. Though I have not noticed it specially on mkv files, but it seems to be persistent problem. I have tried fiddling with setting, rebooting the set etc., nothing solved it. A bit disappointed with A-200 performance overall

Yes it only happens with mkv files, avi or divx play fine...I also don't know yet how to solve this. Will post if so...but any help is much appreciated

did you move it two a different room? almost sounds like a network issue or are you playing local content?

Playing files from internal drive...

do you have another external usb drive or something to test playback from. Then we can rule out hard drive problems. it doesnt sound like a an hdmi or setting problem but more of the video lagging for some reason

I do not beleive it is network issue though I am playing over wired network. Even low bit rate files shows same issue. I have no problem in even streaming video over wireless to my notebook. This is started happeinning only after last firmware update.

I have the same problem. For me it occurs 1-3 times on every movie and most of the time in the first 30 min of the movie. I only/mainly watch 720p mkv. I play from a A-200 connected to a D-Link 323 NAS via a HP Gbit switch. It wasn't always like this, it just started a while ago. First I looked at network and heat as possible problems, but I have to the best of my knowledge ruled that out. Unfortunately I don't remember if I did any FW upgrade before it all started. I'm now on the latest FW.
Any suggestions/pointers to where to look now?/What to do?

Edit: I've found that the subtitle is the first to freeze. When it does it takes a second or two before the video also freezes. Subs are mostly external .srt.

I have had the A-200 for 2 years without any issues. Since last week I'm having the exact same problem you describe, including every single movie file that used to play fine before (blurays, mkvs, etc). As you, I have ruled out network and heat as possible problems. The subtitles when playing mkvs are also the first to freeze.

Did you or anyone solve this issue?
Just wondering if my A-200 is failing and how many people have had the same problem.

This can work wonders and I've started to do it after every update now. Factory reset the player. It only touches settings so write down your settings, and make sure you get all capital letters and everything from your network shares if you have any so they match for any jukeboxes when you put them back. Some settings just get out of wack over time and defaults change when bugs are fixed and you can't get the new ones after a firmware update without resetting.

Another possibility is a good firmware recovery to the same version, but to be honest the reset has always fixed it up for me.

Thanks accident, I've already factory reset the player, no luck.

I should've mentioned that I haven't done a firmware update in ages (since the last one for the A-200). The movies started to freeze out of nothing, that's why I think the player may be failing.

I'll try a firmware recovery.

UPDATE: The firmware recovery didn't work.

SOLUTION: Changing the video output from 1080 24p to 1080 60p seems to have solved the problem. Extremely odd, since the video output had been set to 24p for over a year without any issues. The same movies that played flawless at 24p before, now have problems. go figure.

I have this same problem with my A210 and it drives me nuts.

It seems to freeze then playback fast or skip to catch up to where it should be.

Occasionally it hard locks and I have to pull the power. I'm pretty disappointed that there hasn't been a firmware update to fix this.

I'm having the same problem. On every blu-ray video I play, whether iso via smb or m2ts via http (myiHome), the video randomly freezes during playback and forced subtitles get out of sync. Lately, the freezing is happening multiple times during a movie. The freezing has gotten worse lately as this didn't happen at all when I first got the unit. I know its not a network issue. I have a 500 gb 2.5" hitachi HDD installed and I've removed the top of the case to try to reduce any heat issues if any.

It seems identical to my problem. The "fast forward" after the freeze is exactly as it happens for me too.
