RE: HOW TO: The NMT Apps drive, NTFS for data, the CSI/iPkg apps, on one drive
Thanks for the how-to, I am moving from a Netgear EVA 9150 to the A-300 (already in) and reading up on the info. Lots, lots and lots. However, no real change compared to the EVA as far as the-customer-needs-to sort-this-out-himself aspect is concerned.

I want the ext partition for the apps that seem to dislike ntfs and since I do not want a usb stick being a fixed part of the system, I want to move everything onto the HDD (2 TB).

I'll keep you updated if it works.

Regards
Hans

I think you may have a problem with preserving your content :-(

From my experience, after trying several methods, what finally worked (if I remeber correctly) is the following:

1. Save as much of your content on other HDDs (PC or external)
2. insert the HDD into your PCH device and perform Fresh Setup. this will creat 4 Linox partitions on your HDD and will install tyhe NMT Apps.
3. Install the Ext2fsd software on your PC.
4. Connect the PCH to your PC as USB_PC (slave, the squre connector on your PCH) and use the Ext2fsd to mount the fourth HDD Ext.3 partition, which should be the largest one.
5. Now Windows Explorer can "see" this partition and you can format it as NTFS and reload if with your content.
6. Start the NMT-Jukebox to scan your content. It will automatically index your NTFS partition and will keep the Jukebox Db on it.

Notice: the benefit of NTFS is that you can connect your PCH to any other PC not carrying the Ext2fsd software and work freely with Windows Explorer, to manage your content over USB high-speed interface. In case you only use one PC for your media, the one on which you install the Ext2fsd, than you may stay with the Ext3 partition.

I did all the above on the A210 but I guess it should work for the A300.

I hope this is helpful inspite of the pain of needing to reload the content.

Can someone please help me with doing this on an A300?

Done everything in the main instructions for the A210 and copied loads of stuff onto the NTFS partition before putting the drive in the A300. The only think left to do is to deal with NMT setup item.

I go to Setup - Maintenance - NMT Setup Wizard. The only option then is Fresh Setup and when I click Next the only storage device shown is my NTFS partition. Clicking Next gives the warning about formatting it to .ext3. I haven't dared clicked Next yet as I prefer not to risk losing the 1.5Tb I had copied onto the NTFS partition if I can avoid it. So far it hasn't given me any option to put it onto the ext3 partition. I know it is there because, if I open the internal HDD from the Sources screen, it shows 2 ext folders as well as the NTFS one.

Has anyone done this on an A300?

TIA.

So everything worked fine on A-210. Now i'm ready for Airplay. BUT:

My USB-Slave mode doesn't work. When i disconnect my USB stick, the A-210 will be connected as an external HDD. When i connect my USB-stick then A-210 i not recognized "Unknown Device". Is there a workaround or do i always have to disconnect my USB-stick for that?

How is it really, SWAP? If (or) it is possible to make so: NMT Apps > USB-stick, only SWAP > HDD?

RE: HOW TO: The NMT Apps drive, NTFS for data, the CSI/iPkg apps, on one drive
Hi guys,

I'm planning on trying this setup for once, since my A200 seems to have a reoccurring yearly problem with the data-partition being corrupted.
I'm a little confused about the last steps"

Create a new logical Ext3 partition. A 2GB size should be fine for many but consider making it larger if your using torrents or usenet. The size you would need to store files before moving them to the NTFS partition. This will be your CSI and iPkg partition.
Create a new logical NTFS partition. This partition will use the remainder of the drive. This will be your data partition.

I am using usenet (nzbget), but what files are we talking about that are moved? Is it before unpacking (the rar's) or after they are unpacked? Because the latter would mean I should create at least twice the size of the largest download (say 120 GB including overhead): say 50 GB for the rars and 50 GB for the actual movie.
Can anyone tell me how this would work with NZBget and the mapping done by a Jukebox like Oversight?

It seems to me that everyone makes this really complicated when it's not.

I use a 2GB drive.
1. Set-up and format the drive via Popcorn Hour as normal.

2. Install 'Ext2Fsd' and assign the biggest partition you will be using for media files a drive letter. eg (I)

3. In Ext2Fsd right click the drive and choose change partition type, choose number 07 from the list (07 HPFS/NTFS)

4. Windows will ask you to format the drive, letter (I) or what ever letter you assigned.

5. Choose 'Quick Format' and hit ok.

6. Once the format is done, Ext2Fsd will tell you the file system has been changed.

7. Hit F5 to reload and refresh Ext2Fsd. You will now have your largest partition in Windows NTFS.
