Request to have a Radio time app on Popcorn hour.

You can listen a lot of local radio stations.

RE: [App request] Radio time
i requested the same to our team some months ago, the only issue why it isn't in the work already, is because Radiotime use some Audiocodecs where we have issues.
Anyway i changed your Request to a poll, please guys vote Big Grin

Regards,
Werner

The RadioTime OPML API is very easy to use and it allows you to restrict the stream formats returned (ie. mp3 only). I recently added this to SwissCenter and it works very well.

Werner,

Thanks for your prompt reply. Appreciate to go for a poll.

Alternatively, I would suggest to go for Tune-in Radio app (http://tunein.com/ which is based on Radiotime.

Thanks once again

Pernod,

Thanks for your reply.

I am already using Radiotime through SwissCenter , it supports mp3 only

It is better to have a direct app on popcorn hour, rather than keep your PC "ON" to listen to radio.

Yes, the implementation purposely restricts to mp3 only. I found that the wma streams usually used the mms protocol which are not supported by the PCH, also aac were usually aac+ which also did not play due to containing metadata.

I have supported this on on mvpmcx2 for the first generation machines for a few years now and with the developer's key you can ask RadioTime to limit the codecs that they provide. You also get more stations then the public lists show.

Also the PCH could even support streaming aac+, if Syabas parsed out metadata and vorbis with a chained bitstream if Syabas wanted to implement them, they are not difficult.

Exactly, not difficult. I did this in SwissCenter but then hit the issue of the PCH not being able to play a radio stream from a LAN IP, just continues buffering.

If you delay the request to play for a few seconds (it is long with low bit rate phone/office streams) you should be ok once you get beyond the pre-buffer length.

RE: [App request] Radio time
This would be very nice.
I love NME radio and really miss not hearing it since I moved to PCH, nme radio switched off their shoutcast streams for some reason Huh
Looks like this would be the answer.
