Some media files fail to play properly, they work for minute or two and then it jumps to the browse menu and audio continues for a while in the background. After this nothing plays properly and device needs to be restarted.

I'm not amused.

Or make the good old obsolete a110 quasi open source or something. There are still plenty of eager people around here that would love to play with a110's guts. Smile Plus it would boost the refurbished sales again! Tongue

@Paranoidi: Sounds like the IDX/SUB bug in this firmware
The file starts playing but video drops out when the first subtitle should be displayed and sounds stops 5-7seconds later.

Some more feedback on this bug:
The problem does not occur on the C200. I had a friend test one of the problematic movies with IDX/SUB on his C200 and the movie played without a problem correctly displaying the subtitles.

The problem also doesn't occur with all IDX/SUB files. When it's a DVD to XviD rip, display of IDX/SUB works fine. However when it is a BR to X264 MKV rip it will crash. Especially when it is a release from amiable who seem to be the only ones working with IDX/SUB files instead of (embedded) SRT

The same problem occurs for me but with any container as long as idx contains more than one language.

ive done this update but now my nmt apps have gone, when it tried to install them i got error "nmt setup source is not valid" i can now only do a fresh install from the maintenance menu, there is no longer a typical install. I do not want to format my drive and lose all my media, is there any way to install the apps without format? ive done a search but not really found an answer apart from telneting into popcorn but i cant do that (cannot work out how to make telnet-installer.cgi executable in windows)

any ideas greatly appreciated as ive spent nearly the whole day on this problem now

Cheers

I've installed the apps a while ago , when after an upgrade they had also disappeared. I used the step by step explanation in the Wiki, but I remember that I encountered some minor differences.

Basically, it includes these steps (folow the Wiki:
- Check and maybe reformat the Apps-partition (you can download and burn GParted Live to a boot-CD for this)
- Copy the apps from the download source to the correct partition
- Run Telnet from USB
- rename the Apps- and data partition (if necessary) so the PCH understands and mounts them on startup.

Connect the HDD to your PC and boot the PC from the Gparted CD you downloaded and burned earlier (this is "your Linux PC" for now). Be careful NOT to change the partition that holds your data (movies)!

To run Telnet from USB, download and decompress the TelnetD from this page and add the 3 'chmod' lines to the beginning of the script, as stated in the text.
(# start of PEU edit for windows users
chmod 755 /usr/bin/utelnetd
chmod 755 /usr/bin/busybox26
chmod 755 telnet-installer.cgi
# end of PEU edit for windows users )

It's not necessary to install Telnet if you're going to use it just once. Just run it from USB.

It helps to have some understanding of GNU/Linux, but I found the Wiki to be very helpful.
Good luck!

I updated the FW and the apps are unvailable, I don't want to reformat my HD and loose the media. I don't think they care about support user with old HW like A-1xx. Stupid NMT, do you guys even run a simple test before release it?

When this happened to me, it turned out that there was a corrupt file on the hard drive, which caused the installation/upgrade of the apps to fail.

Check this Wiki on hot to install the apps manually, without losing your data.

I'm now running Xtreamer Ultra with OpenElec and so far it beats popcorn hour to the ground. It's not bug free, but at least subtitles and video playback work perfectly almost every time. I can wholeheartedly recommend OpenElec.

but no HD audio so its a bust for me. You all need to investigate what product you all really need instead of complaining when one doesnt work right for you. The atom/ion combo is not enough for 1080p and ssa/ass subs either. If I were to go htpc I would at least go an i5 and run all power and not worry about gpu support.

Hi All,

i recently bought a new TV. Before that i used to watch the popcorn through the s-vhs cable. This new tv is connected with HDMI. I am facing the problem that 9 out of 10 times when the internal HD spins down the HDMI signal is gone en the TV screen goes to fully black with the message (translated from ducth) "No Video Input Signal"....... At that moment the A110 does not respond to my remote and a hard reset (power switch off->on) is needed.....

I thought this firmware update would fix this, but it doesn't..... Anyone the same problem?... or solution?

thanks!

I set the output to hdmi 1080p60Hz

Even when playing a movie the screen turns to black when the HD spins down....

Hmm - the A110 firmware 'note' is no longer appearing on the main page?!? Does this mean no more support?

HD audio being unsupported on Xtreamer is a definitely a downer. However when it comes to subtitles at least A-110 was horrible. Subtitles are blurry unless you first play DVD image so that graphics mode gets initialized properly. Also being anime fan SSA/ASS subtitles seem to work with XBMC perfectly, I'm sure there are some corner cases where it doesn't work right but haven't seen them yet. With A-110 they were simply unwatchable. What comes to 1080p media I haven't yet ran into problems yet, where as with A110 I would always need to keep an eye on reframes etc. Maybe I should do some testing ...

So far very few problems with XBMC. One 720p file didn't work with hardware acceleration (had enough juice to play with software). Corrupted media files stop playing completely and return to menu. Media library scanning doesn't work too well, crashes back to menu sometimes. Remote power off command doesn't always work (maybe biggest complaint atm).

Xtreamer Ultra is not very solid hardware, but I'm totally sold with OpenElec (XBMC). I'm sure there are great boxes for that coming soon, and with open source, we have a choice.
