An interesting comparison, I don't know of another brand player with the same sigma 8635 that has working mkv with header compression. I don't remember the c200 getting fixed that fast.. maybe if a beta was just abotu to finish it did but back then everything beta'd for awhile.

Syabas supported the hardware up until they really couldn't anymore.. there was no more chips available, it was dropped by sigma for years and just no more support from the chip maker to even try to fix some problems.. I think it was a good run and well supported even after sigma stopped.

not saying I don't really disagree with you, it's getting a lot more blurry on embedded vs open sourced and htpc hardware these days..

Has not been said officially but it's one of them read between the lines. I would say with 99.9% certain that it's eol.. There might never be an official announcement. If it's something that you are waiting on I would cut your loss and move to something else.

Checkout that something else called BOXEE. I have A110 in working condition but collecting dust in garage because replaced with BOXEE BOX(less money more supported formats.) Even plays 3d 1080p from stream without any problem. Look something BOXEE.

How is that HD audio working for you on the BOXEE last I herd its still a no go a year+ after launch, and rumor mill says its never coming, not to mention people keep saying the updates for the boxee are making it unstable,

I got my a110 about 4 months before they announced/released the c200. It sort of sucked. On the other hand my a110 has been pretty solid (except the 5 months it took them to address the header compression issue).

I imagine at some point there's going to be some codec changes and my a110 will lose its usefulness. I probably won't replace it with another popcorn hour. It really got regulated to 2nd tier support within a year of it being discontinued. The c200 got the header compression update almost right away.

Most of the other companies haven't been around long enough to see what kind of track record they would have in similar cirumstances.

I'm leaning towards a device that can support xbmc. At least if its open source, people are always working on it.

Open source is nice but also has its flaws the main issue with xbmc/open source is the hardware behind it, The new ARM chips coming out put it closer to what a hardware based player is, But there is still so many different chips and different ways to handle the GPU behind it. If someone came out with hardware/xbmc combo that just worked without to much trouble it would be nice.

Still, I think people should be warned about buying a Popcorn hour, its like buying a car which they stop making parts for in 2 years. Ive considered buying a Boxee, but I find the design quite strange, why not make it a square instead of chopping it. Lol

ok, i search about that. But now its really hard, the buyers of a-110 were the first... ok. i will reencode the files - but in next time i will buy BOXEE or something other, but not a popcornhour. Its really SAD

lol you know boxee box support was dropped after a year by intel? and still cant play HD audio Keep trying to bash but do a better job lol.

Ok - not "the" thread for this but since this is a dieing thread: Does anyone have an 'easy' tutorial on how to update my YAMJ to the latest version? Last time I tried it it messed everything up on my A110.

Hi guys,

I have read some posts of this thread and it's a pity that it seems that A-110 is no longer being updated (this is not official, right?). Do you know if there are any un-official firmware for it? I have the problem commented above that popcorn does not play audio in some movies (but the tv does) and I cannot see any 3d film.

^^ it won't play 3D so that's nothing w/the current version and I don't think it has the built in tech to ever support 3D. I wish it did too.

half TAB and SBS anything can play.. you just need to manually switch your tv into 3d mode..

How are you able to rip a 3D BD to a single file for the PCH to play it?

I have no clue. But if you can get it to half SBS or TAB it will play. Turning your tv into 3d mode and it will even be 3d.

I've played videos, I just never started from a bluray.. your br is probably interlaced full resolution, someone should have some tool out there to take the video and crop/position the frames to a SBS or TAB movie.. a non-interlaced 3d video is just a normal video but you see 2 images on the screen, there is nothing special about it and the technology is in the tv to cut it in half showing 1 for each eye.

All the newer models do is signal over hdmi that your tv should go in and out of 3d mode for you. you can do that manually.

we think, that its really easy to fix this little problem, maybe 2-4 Hours ?

I love my a-110 but i dont like to buy a new one , only because it doesnt play 10+ files (audio prob).

i would pay 5 Euro to fix it! That will be ok.
