subtitles query

hi guys...

i am having some problems with movies & subtitles.

i have a movie called "movie.avi", and the subtitle file is called "movie.srt", both in the same folder

however, the movie doesn't seem to detecting the subtitles... i am not sure what to look for?

can any one give any pointers?
