some files damaged after copying via USB to internal HDD
not copying, but think it has to be here:
http://www.networkedmediatank.com/showth...#pid479424 A110 & Samsung HD203WI - some files demaged after coping vis USD to internal HDD I have A110 for more than 2 year. Till Dec 2010 it was running with no problems. In Dec 2010 I've replaced my old 1TB HDD with Samsung 2TB HD203WI. I've formated the new HDD under my A110. I've also upgraded to the newest available firmware (01-17-101217-15-POP-403) Since than I've problems with some files copied to internal 2TB HDD. From the very begining I'm coping all my files through USD port from different external sources (mainly 2,5'' 60GB and 3,5'' 500GB HDDs). When playing from external source all is right. After coping to internal HDD, some HD files are demaged. Movies freezes for 1-3 seconds but sound is OK. When coping back from internal to external and comparing md5, hash values are different. I've checked (fsck) internal 2TB disk under ubuntu and it was all right (only 8% fragmented). How do you think what could be the reason? HDD? USB port? New firmware? Something else? |

RE: some files damaged after copying via USB to internal HDD
Perhaps the new internal 2tb drive is the problem. What it sounds like to me, is that the internal 2tb drive is not writing all the bits correctly to the disk. The bits it writes are crc'd and match what the drive thinks it wants to write, but somewhere between getting into the disk write buffer
/crc calculation, the bits are scrambled. Check to see if the new internal 2Tb drive uses more watts than the old internal drive did, and see if maybe you might be getting close to the max wattage the NMT delivers for the internal drive power connection. Also, see if the cable/connection from the new internal to the A110 disk ports are dirty/loose or damaged. Writing consumes more power than reading, seeking also adds a small amount of power use. It is not generally a significant increase in power consumption, but you just might be on the edge of what the NMT can reliably supply when usb is in use and writing/seeking to internal disk. I only saw your answer after my post - I really have left my poppy (for good or bad we'll see) but did not want to miss saying thank you for replying with this which I think might be the answer
thanks again!! (05-08-2011 05:25 PM)xor Wrote: Perhaps the new internal 2tb drive is the problem. RE: some files damaged after copying via USB to internal HDD
Hi,
recently i have the same problem, just like you say, movie gets corrupted after copying from USB (Pendrive) to internal HDD. Picture freezes for few seconds, audio is OK (it is frozen untill next key frame). When i watch this movie on computer picuture is distorted on that moment. I have 1TB WD Green (I bought it with my A-110), and latest firmware. Only solution I found so far is restart A-110 before copying anything, but it's very annoying. Any clue ? |
