PCH-C200 Freezes when trying to view .avi video and .jpg photos
My Thread maybe related to (Gabbbor's Aspect Ratio Problem) thread. But I'm not sure.OK here is the problem I have a HP MZ67 digital camera and all the photos jpg's and video's .avi that I have recorded with it, I can not play on my C-200.The container it uses is video.avi. photos are jpg's files and it doesn't matter what I try to play, either the video I captured or the still photos the C-200 freezes immediately. Then I have to power off the C-200 either by the cord or the switch on the back as none of the other functions work on the remote or the front panel on/off button.AC power has to be removed from the player and then restarted and machine rebooted for it to work again. This is not good. These files play on my computer fine and they also can be burned to a disc with no problems so I would assume it is a codec problem with the C200.But .avi and jpg are the most basic of codecs/files or most common I should say.Any help or suggestions are appreciated !

RE: PCH-C200 Freezes when trying to view .avi video and .jpg photos
I'm going to correct you on the AVI thing because AVI is not a codec. It is a container format just like MKV is.
The AVI only houses a video typically using either XviD or DviX codecs and an audio format that can be whatever user wants it to be. In this case however The HP camera more than likely is creating an AVI file that is not using an Xvid or Dvix codec. meaning they are using a proprietary codec inside the AVI file. As I said in a previous thread you need to reconvert the video or transcode to another format that the PCH can work with. It sucks yes, but this is not the PCH fault, this is HP's fault and many other camera makers fault because they want you to use your video's with whatever device they think it should work be it a PC, or a media box they create. Also you just may want to re-save the images to Jpeg again using the GIMP or some other photo editing software since I have no idea what's going on there. RE: PCH-C200 Freezes when trying to view .avi video and .jpg photos
You can download and install the program "MediaInfo" from this link:
http://mediainfo.sourceforge.net/en/Download If you install using the default options you can then right-click a video file and select "MediaInfo" in the popup-menu to get information about which codec is actually used inside the .avi You can change the output to text, and then copy & paste to this forum (use a code section, the button with the #-sign just above the input box) I'm curious about which format HP is using, so it would be great if you did this. Most likely Foxia is right, and this is a codec PCH doesn't support so conversion is needed. It is really strange that you have problem with Jpegs. Have you tried rebooting the C200? (not standby, hold power button until the red light starts blinking, and when it stops, start again) Sometimes when a file crashes playback the C200 can start behaving odd, and a reboot is needed. If you actually need to resave all your photos, IrfanView can batch convert them for you. http://www.irfanview.com/ |

RE: PCH-C200 Freezes when trying to view .avi video and .jpg photos
A quick search reveals that the camera uses mjpeg in an AVI for its video output.
Rencode if it doesnt play, some actually do but its not supported and wont be as there's too many different mjpeg varieties:- http://www.networkedmediatank.com/wiki/i...p/Xvid4psp A400: SSD+SD Card(Apps), HDMI A300: USB(Apps), HDMI C200: USB(Apps), BD SH-B083L(SB01), HDMI CAT6 Wired Network: TV TX-P42G20, HP ProCurve 1400-8G, Netgear GS-608/605, Synology CS407 |

RE: PCH-C200 Freezes when trying to view .avi video and .jpg photos
Try converting back to jpeg. The C200 can display jpegs, so there must be something unusual about yours. Hopefully running them through the converting program will make them more normal. Try a few first.
Edit: The PCH developers should be interested in having a look at a jpeg that can crash the C200. The problem is getting them to notice. If you post in the Bugs and features forum with the word BUG in the header, and a link to somewhere a sample picture can be downloaded then it may happen. |

RE: PCH-C200 Freezes when trying to view .avi video and .jpg photos
someone had a problem with images and it was something strange like if they got them off the fuji website and they were missing the Date/Time Original in the EXIF it would cause the 200 series to crash. so i would start there.

Halflite, Would do you mean ? These images are images that I have taken myself and downloaded to my computer via Windows Photo Gallery. I don't like the time and date stamp on my images except for certain situations ! A lot of these photos are from a Roger Waters Concert. That I would like to view on my TV

RE: PCH-C200 Freezes when trying to view .avi video and .jpg photos
its not a timestamp on the image. download an EXIF viewer. Pictures store meta data in the header and just check to make sure it has the date/time original field filled in
