dyndns on computer, how to access from PCH?
I have set up a shared folder on my computer (shared from windows 7). I can access it fine if I enter the IP to the computer, but my IP changes now and then so I signed up for DYNDNS service.
How do I access my share from my PCH via dyndns? I have tried to add a new share in PCH and replacing the IP with the host name (ie myname.dyndns-work.com) but I just get an error message saying "bad IP address". Thanks in advance! |

RE: dyndns on computer, how to access from PCH?
I don't know if it's possible. Can the pch reach the internet? YouTube for example?
The best way to solve it would be to get a router, and make a LAN where both your PC and PCH get IP addresses that don't change. What kind of internet connection do you have? If you have a normal ADSL or Cable then routers can be found very cheap. If it's a 3G modem then routers are more expensive, and you should contact the operator and ask if they can sell you a 3G router. |

Are they on the same network? If yes, Dyndns is irrelevant. What changes is your public IP. your private IP should remain the same allways.

RE: dyndns on computer, how to access from PCH?
I'm using dyndns and a netgear router (with a dynamic address). In the router settings I had to set a static address for the different attached devices and port forwarding which then allowed me to access things like transmission and torrentwatch.
Beyond that I'm also stumped. I'm seeking for remote smb access thru the dyndns url. Can anyone point me in the direction of information on full remote access to my pch? TIA. First post. Noob. |
