the aluminum case is very light and not very big, I shipped bigger and heavier things in considerably less, so either you are making money out of the delivery also, or the courier is ripping you off.

and now I quote Chris:

Simple as that. Syaba's isn't making money from the shipping, just the costs of the unit itself. it's the courier that is over charging for shipping.

As stated before Syabas is looking into other means to ship the units. But for now they are sticking with DHL

RE: Popcorn Hour A-210 Chassis Upgrade Kit
Yes , but also as already stated , there are much cheaper shipping options available , if Syabas chooses to use them for its customers.Anyone that ships things around the word fully knows that DHL is the "Rolls Royce" of shipping. In my view (where this single product is concerned) its all about caring for the client base , that you have already established.. its called "giving back".

Will just have to see what they come up with...

At least in my case Uruguay, what the courier charges does not include anything of what the goverment charges. I will have to add import taxes and VAT to the CIF cost so taxes generated by shipping & handling ($49) will be higher than the taxes over the case itself

The problem is different for Europe (excluding UK maybe)

Popcorn Hour A-210: United states with shipping = $220
store in Belgium = €250 ($366 :huhSmile

Popcorn Hour A-200 in Belgium store : €200
Chassis Upgrade Kit with shipping = $65 (€44)

The shipping is too expensive.
But in the end, upgrate kit + shipping + A-200 (from a shop) cost me the same price as a new A-210.

It is a good offer for me.

You are missing the point. Most countries charge sales tax and other taxes, you should expect and budget for those. They use the courier firms to collect their taxes for them.
What happens though is that the couriers take advantage. They overcharge and don't expect you to query their charges.
If you feel that you understand what your sales taxes/import taxes should be and the courier asks for more ask them why, don't just pay.

its off topic , but Mate , most of the time these days you don't get a printed manual with a new car , you just get given a cd! , I don't always carry my laptop in my back pocket :-)

You are right. I don't complain, I just get sad by reality Sad
I several times buy some things from dealextreme, where they have free shipping or $1 shipping (from hong kong to Argentina). It's a slow shipping but it gets here (sometimes a month). Maybe syabas can look into alternative shipping methods in the future.

Apart from that, case looks great. I'll keep waiting to see some "temperature benchmarks"

Thanks!

Same price if you consider that 1 Euro is 1.45 USD.
32.99 (A200 case) + 32 (shipping) = 64.99 / 1.45 = 45Euro

I'm not missing the point, the courier, for those $49 Syabas charges me, will just drop the item at Uruguayan customs deposit and that's it.
I will have to go to the customs deposit and pay for the taxes to get the package.

If I want eg. DHL to handle the import process, they will charge me another $50 (just to handle it, add to that the customs taxes of course).
As customs process here is a PITA couriers get greedy and over-over-charge.

RE: Popcorn Hour A-210 Chassis Upgrade Kit
I bought the aluminium case kit from http://www.popcorn-hour-fr.com/boutique/...product=35 - Very quick delivery, cost in total around £40. There is also a 2 part video on Youtube (also on their site) to show how to upgrade the A-200 plastic case for this one.

My advice, go with the one from France - worked perfectly for my and I'm very happy with it Cool

RE: Popcorn Hour A-210 Chassis Upgrade Kit
I think Syabas has to add postal service, as a means of shipping for their cheaper items. Someone commented that China postal shipping was bad and Hong Kong postal shipping was fine? It's all one country now AFAIK, and it's the same postal service for both.

I've never had a problem receiving postal from Hong Kong or China but it's not fast even when shipped via air. On good days, it arrives in about 25 days. On bad days, it takes about 30+ days. Still it's cheap and if your not in a rush, it does get there.

C-200, A-110 both playing from a DIY Linux Raid 5 server.

Remuxes, Captures and Transcodes done on a desktop running;
Win7, Intel i7 hexacore processor with 24 GB ram, WD VR OS drive and a WD Black 2 TB data drive.

RE: Popcorn Hour A-210 Chassis Upgrade Kit
I got my A200 from amazon and after I'd had it on the fan stopped working for no logical reason and the thing got hotter then a firecracker. I turned it off for a few minutes and then turned it back on-the fan was running. I sent it back to amazon and ordered an A210-instant satisfaction. I have a 1 terrabyte 5,400 Samsung hdd in my A210 and even after I've had in on for a couple of hours it never gets hot-warm yes-but not hot.
