[AUDIO] pch a110 no sound via hdmi
hi, I got a strange problem with my pch a-110.
I usually use it with Panasonic 37'' plasma, with HDMI cable, settings: Audio/Video: - Video otput: HDMI -> 720p 50 Hz - Frame rate sync: off - Video Zoom: Fit to screen - TV type: 16:9 - Colorspace: 16-235 - HMDI audio: on - Surround mode: stereo - DTS: analogue (PCM) - Dolby Digital: analogue (PCM) - AAC: analogue (PCM) - WMA Pro: analogue (PCM) I moved it to an older TV with composite cable (key combination TV mode + 0 made it work). The interesting thing happened when I switch back to the Pana TV - no sound thru HMDI; sound is present only thru composite! What I have tried: - reset from the front "reset button" - not working - downgrade to previous FW - not working - again upgrade to the latest FW - not working - all possible combinations with the Audio/Video settings (Auto Video Output, 1080i, 576, 720p 50/60 Hz), HDMI audio on/off - not working - reset to factory defaults from the Maintenance menu - not working; - changed the HDMI cable - not working; - changed the TV to 32'' Sony LCD - not working; The ONLY format working is DVD - have sound thru the HDMI; nothing else: mkv, avi (with MPEG1, with Dolby Dogital) works! any suggestions and help is welcome. Thanks! |

RE: [AUDIO] pch a110 no sound via hdmi
there's also no sound from flac and mp3 formats.
I am experienced linux user, if logs are needed - just tell me which. If somebody knows where the pch is keeping the settings, or its player mono - give me a hint! dmesg, ps aux, top commands are not showing anything unusual. OK, with top command i saw how the system is playing an mp3. Starting it from command line I get: ----- root@PCH-A110# mono -audio -bgimg -single 1.mp3 -dram 1 mono.c: 1956 ... Starting mono with command >> [mono] [-audio] [-bgimg] [-single] [1.mp3] [-dram] [1] mono.c: 2742 ... ===> repeat mode: 0 mono.c: 2821 ... ===> subtitle: 15 apply_tvmode >> 16 [HDMI 720p 50Hz] tvmode param: [-f HDMI_720p50 -o dvi_24 -asp 16 9 -dvi_hdmi siI9134 -hdmi2c 1 -cs rgb_16_235] [HDMI] ========================== creating pDH ========================== [HDMI] Detected part at I2C device address 0x72: vendor 0x0001, device 9134, rev.0x01 (Silicon Image) [HDMI] Using the part: SiI9134 (7), Vendor ID is 0x0001 / 0x9134 [HDMI] *** HotPlug changed, is now ON [HDMI] *** Rx changed, is now ON [HDMI] *** Clock changed, is now STABLE [HDMI] DHCancelHDCP() HH HH HHHHH HH HH HHHH HHHH HH HH HH HH HH HH HHH HHH HH HH HH HHH HH HHHHHH HH HH HH H HH HH HH HH HH H HH HH HH HH HH HH HH HH HH HH HH HHH HH HH HHHHH HH HH HHHH HHHH HH HH [HDMI] DHGetVideoModeFromEDID(): Looking for 16:9 mode in YCbCr Monitor is HDMI [HDMI] DHSetHDMIMode(TRUE) [HDMI] Sending blank AudioInfoFrames [HDMI] Sending null packet [HDMI] DHUpdateVideoPixelClock(74250000) [HDMI] Setting the HDMI Audio Clock, PixClk=74250000, SampleClk=44100 HDMI Colorspace is now: RGB limited range Monitor is HDMI [HDMI] *** Clock changed, is now STABLE Cannot insert picture inside surface 7 rm: cannot remove '/tmp/temp.jpg': No such file or directory mono.c: 3323 ... open_path: [1.mp3] audio audio type is mpeg1 mono.c: 3607 ... RE: [AUDIO] pch a110 no sound via hdmi
It may be related, it may not.
I found that all MPEG1 audio encoded movies did not play via HDMI to my Samsung 32" TV. If I turned up the sound I would get crackling noises Rebooting the popcorn A110 (latest firmware at time of this post), did not resolve the problem I turned the A110 OFF, using the hard switch and the TV, not just stand-by Once powered back up, all was good

RE: [AUDIO] pch a110 no sound via hdmi
I also have issue with MPEG-1 and MP3 format on some files playing via HDMI.
An example of one such file is: gruffer:/mnt/disk/Completed# mediainfo How.I.Met.Your.Mother.S07E09.HDTV.XviD-LOL.\[VTV\].avi General Complete name : How.I.Met.Your.Mother.S07E09.HDTV.XviD-LOL.[VTV].avi Format : AVI Format/Info : Audio Video Interleave File size : 175 MiB Duration : 21mn 0s Overall bit rate : 1 162 Kbps Writing application : Lavf53.2.0 Video ID : 0 Format : MPEG-4 Visual Format profile : Advanced Simple@L5 Format settings, BVOP : Yes Format settings, QPel : No Format settings, GMC : No warppoints Format settings, Matrix : Default (H.263) Codec ID : XVID Codec ID/Hint : XviD Duration : 21mn 0s Bit rate : 997 Kbps Width : 624 pixels Height : 352 pixels Display aspect ratio : 16:9 Frame rate : 23.976 fps Color space : YUV Chroma subsampling : 4:2:0 Bit depth : 8 bits Scan type : Progressive Bits/(Pixel*Frame) : 0.189 Stream size : 150 MiB (86%) Writing library : XviD 63 Audio ID : 1 Format : MPEG Audio Format version : Version 1 Format profile : Layer 3 Mode : Joint stereo Mode extension : MS Stereo Codec ID : 55 Codec ID/Hint : MP3 Duration : 21mn 0s Bit rate mode : Variable Bit rate : 152 Kbps Channel(s) : 2 channels Sampling rate : 48.0 KHz Stream size : 22.9 MiB (13%) Alignment : Aligned on interleaves Interleave, duration : 24 ms (0.58 video frame) Normally most issues with audio can be rectified by setting DTS to RAW mode. However, after trying all settings for audio, I didnt manage to resolve the issue. Im starting to think that its the way its been encoded, as opposed to the PCH, but would like 2nd opinion of someone knowledgeable. Settings are: Audio/Video: - Video otput: HDMI -> 720p 50 Hz - Frame rate sync: off - Video Zoom: Fit to screen - TV type: 16:9 - Colorspace: 16-235 - HMDI audio: on - Surround mode: stereo - DTS: RAW - Dolby Digital: PCM - AAC: PCM - WMA Pro: PCM Thanks in advance... |
