RE: Cant get firmware
(07-07-2012 07:08 PM)Tsunamijhoe Wrote:  I cant seem to get the firmware for nmt app install,as my download times out both on this forum and from syabas homepage for firmware downoad. Even my PCH cant get the firmware,as it either times out,or speed is as low as 3kbps

Anyone have same problem?

Nope just tested and it downloaded at > 600kb/s from the PCH website. Took 2 mins to download the firmware AND NMT Apps package that was 75Mb in size for the A2x0.
Use a download manager like IDM.

There is no new stable firmware out for the C200. There is a RC release that has been with beta testers for some weeks now that has been released to all forum C200 owners to use if they so wish. It is not a finished product though and even when finished it is only a Bug release.

A400: SSD+SD Card(Apps), HDMI A300: USB(Apps), HDMI C200: USB(Apps), BD SH-B083L(SB01), HDMI
CAT6 Wired Network: TV TX-P42G20, HP ProCurve 1400-8G, Netgear GS-608/605, Synology CS407

New C200 firmware is out now! Can I expect fw for the A200/210 within two weeks?

lol
i guess we have to wait another 5-6 weeks to have a final FW for c200 and than add 5-6 weeks for a A200/210 FW
or add some weeks more...

I have the 210 one, and more than a year have passed with strictly no update... so the message is clear enough, buy the new one if want updates.

This is the path I'm now following. The AMD 450 board for my htpc build should be arriving on Wednesday. My intention is to run OpenELEC (xbmc) on it.

I have a C200 and an A200, neither of which live up to expectations, or the marketing claims. I considered replacing with 300 series devices but am now wary that the same situation will apply to those in a couple of years time.

Sad! Very sad!

Edit:
I guess that I should state that part of my disappointment lies with the lack of progress on UMC - but I suspect that the UMC project has lost momentum because of the apparent abandonment by Syabas.

C-200 - USB local storage, HDMI to Sony Bravia KLV-46X450A, S/PDIF to Sony DAV-F500

I have 2 A-210 but got tired of waiting for a new fw so I went with a Xtreamer Ultra 2 Deluxe (HTPC with OpenELEC XBMC) and it is just working as you want it (if you adjust the fan settings first Smile )

Why would you go with such an under powered board for xbmc. and I guess since going openelec you dont run HD audio either?

And UMC lost its momentum cause all the devs had real life stuff. it was an open project people could join to help but no one ever did.

Seems like a lot of you downgrade to an xbmc box that plays simple media like the A200/210 was more box then you ever needed.

Also FYI A200/210 firmware should be this week or next. it was in QA last week

RE: [A-200/A-210]
well some decisions in life just don't work out, if the pch is not working out sell it, no point coming on here and complaining as no one really cares.
Try xbmc it may be better for you or maybe some other player but they all have their issues the trick is to find one that has issues that affect you the least.

All advice is supplied packaged by intellectual weight, and not by volume. Contents may settle slightly in transit.

RE:)
why are you all complaining so much? A210 is fine device. It does everything you need to play music and movies. and all that for little money

For me, informing about my choice, is not to complain about the A-210 per se; it is to inform both current and potential future consumers of a possible path down the road of media extenders.

The A-210 has 3 very positive features:

* Lit remote, very useful in my dark area of the world Smile
* Fanless, also useful when it comes to play movies/shows in a more toddler-friendly volume
* Play most formats if you do not use subtitles.

Less positive:

* Having friends and children in need of this feature of subtitles, it sometimes can make a movie-night somewhat frustrating...

* The hard reboots that are need once in a while do to some mysterious reason is frustrating for a wife that is less patient than her husband...

* Multi-mount not working (not PCH, its a Sigma thing but still frustrating)

* Buying a PCH in June 2011 and not getting a fw update in 13 months is also less positive when it comes to customer care.

* Having a working Jukebox alternative working out-of-the-box without having to install other apps, which in their turn can make it troublesome to make fw-updates if not disabled before update is also a less positive thing.

For me the less positive things has made me to try another product on the market in the same way as I came from a Tvix/Qnap/Netgear/etc. to the PCH in 2011.

Holding my fingers crossed for the upcoming fw release to be helpful for the users that has chosen to stick around for a while longer in trust of PCH Smile

Cheers

/Mike

what subtitles are you having issues with? subtitles is probably the second most popular feature aside from playing a video itself.
